Adam was desparate
by peacefulpete ini found this: .
now, god had set adam to name every beast, bird and other living thing.
when they passed before him in pairs, male and female, adam-being already like a twenty-year-old man-felt jealous of their loves, and though , he tried coupling with each female in turn act but found no satisfaction in the act.

Where did you find that quote that he attempted coupling with all the animals?

Do on-line dating services really work?
by logansrun ini signed up for a "yahoo personals" account a million years ago and get updates like berserk which i never read.
i never put my picture up and have never subscribed to their "expanded service" where you can actually contact the people that they match you up with.
do these things really work?

Nos, exactly my point as well - meet as soon as possible to "keep it real". Use the phone or internet to do some early "filtering" but get to know each other in person in a low stress environment.

Was wondering.......
by Nan ini was wondering if jws have to buy their wt & awake magazines that they distribute door to door?
also, are they required to sell them or do they just give them away at the door?
if they sell them, do they keep the money....or have to give it to the (b)org?.

Dawn,
You bring up a good point. If it indeed were the TRUTH and it was important to get the message out to as many people as possible, then why in the age of the most important information dissemination tool (the Internet) does the WTS not publish all of it's magazines online? Wouldn't it save a ton of paper? Wouldn't it be a way to put literature into the hands of most people in the Western world instead of having to print it all? This line of reasoning makes sense, unless of course... $$$

Hey Elsewhere - bingo on the "few extra pounds". I like a girl with some curves, but it was pretty typical that most girls would be one category higher in body type than they said.
Also, I would strongly recommending chatting only a short time before meeting. You can build up too much of a preconceived notion about the person otherwise. Also I would suggest not planning "dates" but simple meetings for coffee in a public place. This makes for a short and sweet first meeting on a fairly relaxed setting, without setting up an elaborate date where you've made a commitment to spend hours with someone you might not be into within seconds of meeting face-to-face. When you meet for coffee, after 15 minutes you can either politely excuse yourself and thank them for the meeting, or if there was a spark, suggest at that time to either duck out and go do something or make plans for a "real" date.

I would actually endorse them. I met my wife's sister through Lavalife. She introduced me to my wife when it appeared she was inch taller than I. I married the younger sister last year. both of us did alot of dating off of their (but it can be a lot of work!). I would recommend to guys to buy credits (they are dirt cheap) and to post a picture. Girls hate the cheap guys who can't initiate conversation because they post in their ad "no credits - please message me". It screams deadbeat cheapskate...

The true approved religion
by Galimo inone of the arguments i used to use while going from door to door was:.
if we would now live in the time of ancient israel and if we would want to adore god in the correct way then we would have to be part of the choosen people of israel.
adapt to its laws and customs, etc.

The flaw in that reasoning was that Isreal, Jesus etc were the approved religion of the time simply because the Bible said so. As well, Jesus abolished the law. The Old Testament is nothing more than a mythicized version of Jewish History.

Sister Doreen and the Real-Life Noah's Ark Survivors
by Duncan inone of the things that has interested me over the many years since i?ve been out of the watchtower is the mindset of the ?intelligent?
christian fundamentalist.
specifically, i mean the educated type, the sort who really ought to have enough educated reasoning skill and basic native brain-power to see the hopelessness of the fundie position on all that early-genesis mythical stuff, but who doggedly sticks to it (or pretends to in public) as if it were a respectable, logical scientific point of view, as if it really were gospel.

I love version 2 - cool stuff.
It gives me the chills to remember back as a child having to listen to this rhetoric. Very subtle way those talks were written, making people feel quite privileged.
