For those still trapped in the cult, be careful with your sanity
by TastingFreedom ini relate to your pain and suffering.
you remind me of the struggle i had for over a year, where i was pushing myself to go the meetings and even gave public talks because of friends and family, even when i knew it was all bullshit.
i was so sick to my stomach, that i literally felt like puking during the meetings.

I relate to your pain and suffering. You remind me of the struggle I had for over a year, where I was pushing myself to go the meetings and even gave public talks because of friends and family, even when I knew it was all bullshit. I was so sick to my stomach, that I literally felt like puking during the meetings. But see, that's exactly what the cult programming and the mental triggers do, make you feel guilty and fearful. They want you to believe that your entire world will collapse, and make you believe that you are going to be miserable without them. But the reality is, even if you lose some people (conditional friends), you can make a new life that is decent, and honorable life without them. You will fill the void with other things that may be even better than what you have now. There will be no armageddon; they are simply not god's people, as simple as that!! You are a victim of a cult.
The emotions you are experiencing can be like a volcano, waiting to erupt. There is so much anger and frustration, that it can be dangerous to your health. The sense of loss and the feelings of being stuck or trapped can cause a lot emotions, including anxiety and depression. You need to deal with it, confront it, because it can lead to dangerous ways of coping such as addictive behaviors. The cognitive dissonance can become intolerable and start to affect your overall perspective of life. In advance, I apologize if this sounds too scary, but the implications of being caught in something that you don't want to do, but keep doing it against your will are pretty big. You need to embrace yourself, and find peace within, pursue your life.
The best strategy to get out of a cult is to prepare yourself emotionally, become a person who relies on logic and critical thinking, not so much on emotions (e.g. fear, guilt). Due the best you can in trying to help the closest people that you care about, your wife, give your self time, and define a roadmap out of the cult, set a date as a goal, if you can't reach that goal then I would say start preparing to assume your losses (collateral damage), to pursue the things that are more important to you (e.g. your freedom, your identity). I have found that the help of a professional (e.g. Psychologist) can be a big source of guidance through this process.
You're probably experiencing anticipated separation anxiety just thinking about it, but you will gain the courage once you feel comfortable with new friends, and convince yourself that it's going to be OK. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck in your journey to freedom! -

I WAS CAUGHT emailing a pdf copy of the New Elders Book
by Smoky ini sent a .pdf to a few friends and one of them betrayed me and forward it to a elder i know, along with the emails of the recipients.
i cant believe i was so naive to think that i can trust someone..stupid.
i have not talked to the "benedict arnold" yet, but hopefully soon.
-
TastingFreedom
First of all when you send emails like that you want to add the recipients in the BCC line, so that nobody knows who else it's going to.
Second, witnesses are never trustworthy... EVER!!! The guilt and the programming will kick in, no one is above the law.
Sorry to hear what's happened. Unfortunately I'm afraid that you are in deep shit. Not sure what legitimate excuse you can give for having a PDF.
I would probably just DA if they try to make a Judicial Committee!!

DMCA Complaint from The WatchTower for links to KS-10 'Shepherding' book
by Simon inyes, that's right, they really do not like people being able to read that book so they wanted links to it removed (it appears they have also been going after the hosts of the content itself as well).. unfortunately, i had to removed the links (which were dead anyway when i checked) and i'd ask that people don't re-post them (sorry).
i'm sure there are lots of alternative ways for those with the information to get it to those who need it.. here are the discussions on the book:.

EggNogg, I don't know your track record on this site, but based on your posts in this thread, you give the impression of being a loyal Watchtower soldier, trying to infuse fear around here!
There are laws in this country protecting copyrights and property but we also have rights and a constitution that protects our civil rights. Those rights don't go away just because some publisher corporation wants to intimidate us. I think Sheperd has refuted your fear mongering very cleverly!

It seems the Watchtower has lost control of the situation and now the book is all over the place. The secrecy of this cult is being divulged to the world.
How come the News media cannot cite it?

What is brazen conduct according to the Watchtower?

They have really pushed the envelope to bundle a bunch of things into one really evil word. Demonize some things and compare them to child abuse......Good stragedy to demonize actions like associating with DF'ed friends.

9. Brazen conduct, loose conduct : (Gal. 5:19)
The Greek word translated "brazen conduct," or
"loose conduct," is a·sel'gei·a. Strong's Greek Dictionary
uses very forceful terms to define it: "licentiousness;
filth[iness], lasciviousness, wantonness." The
New Thayer's Greek English Lexicon adds to the list
"unbridled lust, ... outrageousness, shamelessness,
insolence." Another lexicon defines a·sel'gei·a as conduct
that "violates all bounds of what is socially acceptable."
Rather than relating to bad conduct of a
somewhat petty or minor nature, "brazen conduct"
describes acts that reflect an attitude that betrays disrespect,
disregard, or even contempt for divine standards,
laws, and authority. Therefore, two elements
are involved in brazen conduct: (1) The conduct itself
is a serious violation ofJehovah's laws, and (2) the attitude
of the wrongdoer toward God's laws is disrespectful,
insolent.-w06 7/15 p. 30; w83 3/15 p. 31;
w73 pp. 574-576.
10. Though this is not an exhaustive list, brazen
conduct may be involved in the following if the
wrongdoer has an insolent, contemptuous attitude
made evident by a practice of these things:
• Willful, continued, unnecessary association
with disfellowshipped nonrelatives despite
repeated counsel.-Matt. 18:17b; 1 Cor. 5:11, 13;2 John 10, 11; w81 9/15 pp. 25-26.
• Child sexual abuse: This would include fondling
of breasts, an explicitly immoral proposal,
showing pornography to a child, voyeurism, indecent
exposure, and so forth.
• Continuing to date or pursue a romantic
relationship with a person though not legally
or Scripturally free to marry, despite repeated
counsel and generally after a warning
talk to the congregation.-Gal. 5:19; 2 Thess. 3:6,
14, 15.
11. Evidence (testified to by at least two witnesses)
that the accused stayed all night in the
same house with a person of the opposite sex
(or in the same house with a known homosexual)
under improper circumstances.- If questions
are raised regarding Scriptural freedom to remarry,
see 12:12.
• Elders should use good judgment in assessing
the situation before forming a judicial
committee. Were the two persons alone together
all night? Is there evidence of a romantic
relationship? Are there understandable reasons,
such as an unexpected emergency, that caused
the situation?
• If there are no extenuating circumstances, a judicial
committee would be formed on the basis
of strong circumstantial evidence of por·neí'a.
• Depending upon the attitude of the accused,
there might even be evidence of brazen conduct.
Consider other examples:
• A married brother spends an inordinate amount
of time with his female secretary after work
hours but insists there is no romantic interest.
His concerned wife informs the elders, who give
him strong counsel. Later, when he claims to
be leaving overnight for a "business trip," his
Page 62
suspicious wife and a relative follow him to the
secretary' s home. They observe the secretary invite
him inside at 10 p.m. and continue watching
all night until he leaves the home at 7 a.m.
When the elders speak to him, he admits that
he spent the night alone with his secretary, but
he denies that he committed adultery. In such a
case, the elders have a basis to take judicial action
because there is strong circumstantial evidence
of por·neía and there may be elements
of brazen conduct. The innocent mate's conscience
may allow her to choose to divorce him
and remarry; the elders would not take action
against her for making this decision.

Other examples cited:
An entrenched practice of viewing, perhaps
for years, abhorrent forms of pornography
that is sexually degrading. Such pornography
may include sadistic torture, bondage,
gang rape, the brutalizing of women, or child
pornography. Brazen conduct would be involved
if the offender was promoting such material,
such as by inviting others to view it, thus
giving evidence of a brazen attitude.-w06 7/15
p.31.
