How I obtained my personal files from Bethel

it has taken me a long time, but i have finally put together an article outlining how i used the law to force bethel to send me my personal files.

it is a very long article full of scans, so i have linked to it at http://jwfacts.com/watchtower/experiences/personal-files-privacy-act-1988.php.

in brief, in 2006 i requested that bethel send me my files on the basis that the australian privacy act 1988 entitles people to receive a copy of any information a corporation holds about them.

i'm actually quite shocked at how much they wrote in those letters!! i guess i just thought they just sent the next congregation your time sheets. wow. ( i once stumbled across a box of time sheets in the back room when i was a kid. none of the elders kids EVER turned in time. and the few times i handed in "0" i got glared at by big bad elder man. so my mom told me to lie and always turn in a few hours every month. LOL!! ) anyways.... i hope there's a loop-hole in the u.s. so we can get ours. it'd be interesting to say the least.

if you don't, a group of aliens take on human bodies and pose as a family on earth.

they try to fit in but get things wrong and hilarity ensues.. yesterday my family celebrated easter.

my personal recommendation: synecdoche, new york.

it's one of those movies that words fail utterly to capture--which really is the hallmark of a good movie, i suppose.

Memorial 2010 Your Experiences

just got back from memorial.

only went so that i could say to my parents that i had gone and to remind myself why i left.. oh my word!!!

it was sooooo painful.. got there a bit late - it was a couple of minutes into the talk.

i'm doing my own for the first time tonight!! i have to babysit, so i'll do it when i get home. 10 pm is still after sunset, right? lol. and YES... i WILL partake!! :) and my worldly husband is going to join me!

back in september of 08 my mom died, and both of my parents had been jw's since 1978.. in the mid 80's they moved down south to retire.

and she was the type of person who remembered everyones anniversary, if someone got .

sick, or died she would send a card, flowers, to the family or call.. even years after they moved away !.

i was flat out told several times by people that they would be happy to talk to me after i go back to meetings and recieve the spritual food i "needed". i've never done anything wrong. they know nothing about me other than i don't go to meetings. i never even said anything bad about the wtbts.... i didn't realize that was the norm til it happened to me. my family was never like that at all when we were active. we didn't even care if they were df'd. we still talked to them.... now i look back and see that i had absolutely NO friends growing up. no one actually really got to know us. just chatted at meetings. my husband was born and raised in the same place and has a million friends that he's known since he was little. NOW i see what real friends look like and act like. i'm VERY BLESSED to have his friends completely take me in!!! (and they're all pagan trinitarians. lol!!)

Going to skip this years Memorial for the first time.

i'm already being stalked by the elders, thanks to my wife.

they had a "shepherding call" for three hours while waiting for me to come back to my house.

if they're that determined, i'm somewhat concerned about their reaction to what i'm going to do.

p.s. i don't think they'll corner you at memorial. too many outsiders there. they like to pester family into making you talk to them. the elders at my hall bugged my mom and she said "she's a grown, married woman now. you need to go ask her, not me!!" every time they called OUR house when i was home. lol. my family was never into playing along.
