woah, did the Israelites offer human sacrifice to Jehovah?!
by EndofMysteries ini thought that never happened, but reading judges 11:30,31 looks to me like jephthat offered whoever greets him first as a "burnt offering", then when returning, his daughter is who greets him, she says for him to keep his word but let her mourn her virginity, after that, he keeps his vow.
i gotta look this one up.

Resurrection or redemption 3 times?
by EndofMysteries inanyone like to chime in on what they think this scripture means.....job 33:23-29, but i'm quoting just vs 28, 29. i checked 3 bible translations all say the same thing........"he has redeemed my soul from passing into the pit, and my life itself will see the light.
look!
all these things god performs, two times, three times, in the case of an able-bodied man, to turn back his soul from the pit, that he may be enlightend with the light of those living..

What would you all do in this situation?
by EndofMysteries in- a married ex from a few years ago who has a kid now too, who after being with you got married within a few months, seems to decide they may have made a mistake, and want to meet you for a weekend but supposedly not to do anything wrong just for closure.

Erased articles from the 1950-2008 WT Library?????
by EndofMysteries ini have to fire up my old computer, but i think i found evidence of erasing articles.
if anybody has the 2003 wt library, can you check 6/15/50 wt for articles very heavy on the faithful slave?
the 2008 cd has none for that (unless i got the date mixed up) if it is that way, (and many jw's prob have the 2003 cd) will be wondering why they are erasing articles about the faithful slave :) .

What if Jehvovah was a God approved guardian/king?
by EndofMysteries inin thinking outside the box, i've came upon a few scriptures this week.
what if "god" doesn't mean what we think it means?
i've noticed that jehovah/god is always calling himself the god of the israelites, their god, or the god of the earth.

If Jesus is Shiloh, then he is not the stone and shepherd, or vice versa is he?
by EndofMysteries ina little project, unless anyone already has an answer for this.
gen 49:10, many take to be jesus, a few things mentioned, (the sceptre shall not depart from judah until shiloh comes, to him belong the obedience of the peoples.
he washed his garments in wine, his eyes shall be red with wine and his teeth white with milk) .

A bible I picked up, from 1901, has Jehovah in OT more then NWT
by EndofMysteries ini was at a thrift store, and picking up some different bibles to compare, this is "the holy bible containing the old and new testaments translated out of the original tongues being the version set forth in ad 1611 compared with the most ancient authorites and revised ad 1881-1885 newly edited by the american revision committee ad 1901 standard edition new york thomas nelson and sons 381-385 fourth avenue george e day secretary of the old testament company and j henry thayer secretary of the new testament company, copyright 1901 by international council of religious education".
anyway, i was surprised to find a bible outside of nwt with jehovah everywhere in the ot, however i haven't found it once in the nt on this bible.
was this bible associated with the jw's at the turn of the century?.

Is the LAW still binding?!?!
by EndofMysteries inthis is kinda scary, for those who believe in the bible, first jesus said that he wasn't abolishing just fulfilling the law.
the penalty of sin is death, so he covers that.
many take that as most things are okay then.

1914 can be proved wrong now, using the same logic and reasoning, they missed a KEY POINT!
by EndofMysteries ini'm not saying i even agree with the current reasoning behind the 1914 date, but you can't argue that with jw's, but in my latest research and personal study, i ran into the kryptonite for the 1914 date.
right out of "bible topics for discussion" is "chronology" in which it states 1914 ce ends gentile times.
line of kingom rulers interuppted 607 bce ac 17:24, 25 7:48.

OLD songbook and Revelation, anybody ever notice this?!
by EndofMysteries ini made slight mention of this in last post, but this deserves it's own thread and more info here.
in their 1928 songbook, the number of songs extolling jesus was about the same as the number extolling jehovah.
but in the latest songbook of 1984, jehovah is honored by four times as many songs as is jesus.
