a letter was read to the congregation last sunday.
i wasn't paying much attention until i heard stephen lett will be delivering a talk.
at first i thought it would be as a recorded video, as it was in the last assembly.
Check out the most expensive hotels or bed and breakfast in the area. I know at least in the 80's the GB still stayed at expensive hotels, rented expensive cars, and always traveled 1st class. If they still do then some nice pictures of that lifestyle would go a long way.

from what i understand the wt/jw is a for profit group that is taking advantage of the community as a whole.
I don't know of any other mainstream religion that does NOT give to the poor and provide any sort of public assistance. Scientologists have many charities, etc.
If religions are tax free for public benefit in giving to poor, etc, then WT would fail. I think the emergency construction insurance scams are what they show to say they do charity but the authorities should know they only go to members and even though a lot if not all of materials are donated and the labor is free yet they ask for the entire insurance money. So they MAKE money on those.

so, the whole weekend i spent it dozing on and off.
this morning, before waking up, i had a dream.
i was passing by a building in france (i don't live in europe) and then i recognized a certain building as the one where one of my friends who lives in that country lives.
Also the power of suggestion through telepathy, people thinking someone should so or say something then that person does it.
That's happened to me a couple of times. The one I remember the most was years ago, when still in, I was visiting a KH and standing in the back. They just started the song and somebody mentioned how the person at the sound was 'new'. I looked at him and just had a super strong feeling that he would hit a button and mess it up. After the song was already going fine in the first verse, and after I had that thought, he was fiddling with his books or something, then he looks up at receiver with a very confused look, moves his hand around and hits the stop button, then looks even more confused on why he just did that, and he ended up having to start the whole thing all over again.
Are those things just coincidence? Some effect of space/time? Some form of telepathy? Some form of control of the universe? Or as Simon said recognition bias. But in my case I very rarely ever get that absolute certain feeling on things, maybe once a year or less, usually very mundane things like that example.

I go into that more in the second topic I linked to above. Whatever difference you think there is, only the person shunning their parents is making the decision to do so. There are lots of influences all around us - it's up to each one of us which ones we chose to listen to.

Based on that reasoning then it would be perfectly okay for the WT to publish articles saying, "Thus, one who is loyal to God could easily feel strong ties of loyalty to a close friend or relative even if that person is practicing what is bad. We must remember that Jehovah always merits our primary loyalty. (Shows some OT scriptures) As you can see Jehovah wants us to put them to death. (shows scriptures on obey God rather than man). So even though man's law forbids us to put somebody to death, God's law is above that. If we know of somebody practicing homosexuality or committing fornication, let's follow the bold example of the early israelites and storm in their tent(house) and put them to death! Let us also not forget those who abandon the truth are even more deserving of death. John Smith, even though in jail for life, had this to say..."My mother pleaded with me not to kill her, but I knew by killing her I was actually saving her because the great tribulation hadn't come yet and either way I had to keep my dedication and loyalty to the organization above all else!" What a fine example!
So Simon, is that allowed too? The WT would not get in trouble because in the end it's the person who would choose to do anything right? If not, what is the difference between instructing people to murder vs coerce and intimidate to deny their religious freedom?
