  Massive earthquake. Haiti doesn't get a break.

  port-au-prince (reuters) - a major earthquake hit the impoverished country of haiti on tuesday, collapsing buildings in the capital port-au-prince and burying residents under rubble, a reuters reporter in the city said.. he said he saw dozens of dead and injured people in the rubble, which blocked streets in the city.. the epicenter of the quake was located inland, only 10 miles from the capital port-au-prince and was very shallow at a depth of only 6.2 miles.. it prompted a tsunami watch for parts the caribbean, the pacific tsunami warning center said on tuesday.. "everything started shaking, people were screaming, houses started collapsing ... it's total chaos," reuters reporter joseph guyler delva said.

  "i saw people under the rubble, and people killed," he added.. a local employee for the u.s. charity food for the poor reported seeing a five-storey building collapse in port-au-prince, a spokeswoman for the group, kathy skipper, told reuters.. another food for the poor employee said there were more houses destroyed than standing in delmas road, a major thoroughfare in the city.. panic-stricken residents filled the streets desperately trying to dig people from rubble or seeking missing relatives as dark fell shortly after the quake.. "people were screaming 'jesus, jesus' and running in all directions," delva said.. a major earthquake, of magnitude 7 or higher, is capable of causing widespread and heavy damage.

  there was no immediate report of damage or casualties.. the tsunami center said the watch was in effect for haiti, the neighboring dominican republic, with which it shares the island of hispaniola, cuba and the bahamas.. "a destructive widespread tsunami threat does not exist based on historical earthquake and tsunami data," the center said.

  we doubted ourselfs and we doubted our beliefs.. but today we are our beliefs not some book not the elders nor the governong body.

  those were just symbals of our desire to be just.. today we ourselfs are the symbal of our own justice.

  today we believe in ourselfs and the justice of our heart.. we have become the victors.

  In some ways I do. I always, always had a hard time saying, "We believe..." - because a little voice would say, "But what do you believe?"

  Now I am trying to be representative of my beliefs. I hope that I can produce some positive effect in the lives of those around me... and possibly more.

  i have been thinking a great deal about where i stand at this moment in time in terms of a belief in a creator verses a belief in an evolutionary process.

  i think the best way to describe it is an exploratory path.

  i look at what is around me and i acknowledge it is remarkable.

  Personally, I think that the idea of "non-overlapping magisteria" is intriguing. Many many religious people have no problem with science trying to explain our origins from a material standpoint. Many many scientists are religious or have no problem with religion addressing the "why" and questions about meaning.

  When they begin to step on each other's toes, there will be friction. Young-earth creationists insisting that Genesis be taken literally, or poplular science figures like Dawkins insisting that religion is evil, do not make for a successful cohabitation of ideas.

  Edit: I guess what I'm trying to get at is that religion shouldn't present itself as science, and science need not replace religion.

  i was thinking about the fact that the society is changing all the lingo that is associated with the new world order, new system and the like.

  what i was wondering is if it is important to get away from this phrasing, what are they going to do with the new world translation?

  do you think they will start publishing it under a new name?

  Blondie - yes, the revisions were put into new printings of the book. Some of us whose books were too beat up to use again got new ones the last time we studied it. The changes were there.

  Bohm - no problem! It is really cool and exciting stuff.

  Wobble - I do love that "thinking" too!

  The cool thing for me is that this is something that can be observed within our lifetime, and it is evolutionary change with no true selection pressure. Add a little of that, and all of a sudden maybe all E coli uses citrate as food. Compound that with a few more mutations to its genome, and you're moving along a crazy path that leads...somewhere else. Interesting stuff.

  the thing that sucks is that they are very much alive & we are literally less than five miles apart from each other everyday.

  i had a long talk with one of my siblings today.

  i've been getting a really weird vibe lately...today it was confirmed that i will be shunned from here on out from them.

  was there something that happened to prove to you that your spouse or mate was "the one"?.

  she says she is going to just go and blag.

  - even attend a few meetings if necessary.
