i just received my invitation to the memorial this year and noticed that the word memorial does not appear anywhere on the invitation.
it refers instead to the anniversary of jesus death.
is this a new thing, or is it always marketed as an anniversary rather than a memorial to unbelievers?.
I haven't received my invite yet either. We may have to miss it as I don't know the time and place!
This will be our first year missing it as well... I think that if we can make it through the memorial and the next CO visit with the fade intact, we'll be ok. For a while.

Chris, the emotional and mental bullying that you're going through are so painful. To have your own family members treat you that way, to feel the frustration of not being able to reason with them, is to know what many have gone through and are going through right now. Your story is just too familiar and close to home for myself and others... and yet it is yours alone.
Strength to you now and in the days to come. You've shown that you're a person of character and integrity.
And yes, married men do go to bars! And if you start demanding chocolate milk, you may find that married men also can get kicked out of bars...

I was clean until that damn monkey started throwing his feces around.
this morning, i came to discover in great shock that my wife's ssd has been stopped.. yesterday, i noticed her ssd wasn't automatically deposited as it usually does every 3rd of the month.. .
this morning i checked again and it still wasn't there.
so i got on vp and called to inquire what's going on with her ssd.
That is good news!

i was browsing through the wt site and came across an article on "are we living in the last days".
being curious to see if we were or not, i clicked on the article and was puzzled at an illustration shown.. beside the illustration was the following:.
"...the bible fortold that the last days would be marked by a change in human society.

What a terrible illustration - is this one straight out of the Live Forever book? Man, recycling those awful illustrations just reeks of laziness and self-importance.
my wife got an invite to a "party" and got me thinking...... one of the biggest things that used to annoy me was how many members of the congregation were involved in those mlm sales schemes or "work from home" companies and they used the kh as the hub of their business.
many of those companies are very legit, and i have no problem with people selling that stuff, its just that people would use their field service tactics to pressure others in the hall to buy stuff.. every week, a member of my family would get invited to a candle party, cosmetics party, tupperware party, vitamin party, etc......you could go bankrupt just from the constant flow of parties and feeling obligated to buy something.. the sad part was that if you turned down the invite or went and didnt buy anything, you would offend the selller!.
then, they would always run around and deliver their orders before and after the meeting (unles the elders put a stop to it), otherwise you would see them out in their car after the meeting distributing everyones' orders.. .
I remember stuff like that! It didn't happen much around here, but we did have one person who sold herbs out of her home. There would be transactions in the KH until the elders put a stop to it. From then on, they took place in the parking lot - blind exchanges, dead drops, real secret agent stuff.

a couple weeks ago in the news in the sacramento, california area several billboards advertising atheism were spray painted and ripped apart with graffiti scribbled on the advertising.
things like " jesus died for you !
" and other threatening slogans were written on these billboards .
awildflower - I had heard stories to that effect as well. I'd also like to hear from anyone with any experience there...
