I was browsing through the WT site and came across an article on "Are We Living in the Last Days". Being curious to see if we were or not, I clicked on the article and was puzzled at an illustration shown.
Beside the illustration was the following:
"...the Bible fortold that the last days would be marked by a change in human society. The apostle Paul described what people in general would be like. At 2 Timothy 3: 1-5 we read: “In the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here.” In part, Paul said that people would be.."
and then listed the items in bullet style form:
Beside the bullet points was this illustration:
I was trying to match each of Paul's descriptions with each of the type of people shown.
Lovers of pleasure was a reach. So the guy was enjoying a beer and a cigar. There's a pin-up girl on the wall behind him. Oh the humanity...
Lovers of money... somehow I never pictured Bernie Madoff in this pose.
But the one on the top left, stymied me. What the hell was that one? It's not the typical WT illustration of a drug user. This person is in the hospital. Wait...I'm seeing it now...
There's a tube in her arm...that goes back to the bag hanging on the IV stand...it's...yes, yes....it's a blood transfusion. She falls under the very first description: lovers of themselves. The Society, in all its subliminal glory, is attributing a standard health care practice with being a lover of oneself.
I shouldn't be surprised, I guess, but this illustration is too much. Look at the look on her face... You have to know that they purposely made this person look wild eyed and almost possessed. This is what happens to you when you get a blood transfusion, you know.
You can go on about lovers of pleasures and lovers of money and disloyal and actually make some valid points but this insidious attempt to label blood transfusions as sign of being in the last days is really reaching, not to mention despicable and low class.
What a bunch of bastards...
