Yup....working on my bachelor's and as soon as that is complete moving onto the master's....and started the process long after turning age 40. GO for IT!!!! I always resented not being allowed an education, and getting it even at a late date brings me so much happiness and satisfaction. Plus it is good for the brain! it is a muscle and needs exercise to stay healthy and alive! I think of my education as having the additional benefit of staving off dementia.....

TWO QUESTIONS
by snowbird in1. are your validation words getting weirder?
e.g., what is a jamstratt?.
2. when you are on a thread where posters are fighting and trading insults, how do you feel?.

1 - yeah, weird words sometimes....but no big deal
2 - move on, sylvia....move on................ the whiners are the ones that i find annoying....or the ones who can't make up their mind whether they are still "witnesses" or not........ either s!!t or get off the throne........

Consequences of speaking out
by Nickolas ini've been married to the same wonderful woman for 37 years.
she's been a jehovah's witness for 33 of those years, i am not.
i studied with the wbts for a couple of years beginning late 1974 before deciding it wasn't for me.

seriously, it depends on the level of open-mindedness of the people you are dealing with. there are those that are very close-minded and the sort that would try to alienate your wife/family from you...then there are those who would take a more balanced approach. you have every right to your opinions and to express them as freely as you like, wherever and whenever. especially in the confines of your own home; if you have witnesses to dinner or social gatherings, they are your guests and must respect your home and your hospitality in having them over. that includes being willing to listen to diverse viewpoints.
who knows....you might be able to educate someone. i say go for it.

Were you ever embarrassed or somewhat ashamed when the WT patted themselves on the back in their own articles?
by miseryloveselders ini was browsing through the december 2010 awake, and noticed an article on the earthquake that happened in haiti earlier this year.
it didn't take long for the article to disturb me.
the third paragraph initiated the sanctimonious tone that is present througout the article.

it's right up there with the braggarts who find money and return it because they are jehovah's witnesses.....
so they think they are the only honest people in the world who actually would return lost or missing goods? why don't they return it because it is the RIGHT thing to do??? the ethical thing??? the assumption follows that if they were not witnesses, they'd keep the stash and not tell. nice, huh.
very annoying....and those tunnel-vision articles where they are the only humanitarians out there, well it's just plain crazy. unless it involves some sort of self-aggrandizement, there is no effort put out to assist others....especially if they are not fellow witnesses. why help out someone you are looking forward to picking up the bones of post-armageddon.....

At what age should women stop wearing tight jeans!?
by journey-on ini'm at the grocery store.
walking ahead of me is this woman with a really nice butt in really tight jeans, small waist, nice hair.
(yes, guys, even us women notice other women's butts:-) she stops at the dairy section, turns around and i swear she is 60 if not older!

I personally think it is very inappropriate and just plain stupid looking for any woman past 45ish unless she's built like Heidi Klum. Only the tall thin, long-legged ones look good in jeans...even short, young women in good shape typically look a lot better in khakis or some other casual pant.....

what does "calling you out "mean
by bigmac ini'm english --uk--& not sure what the phrase means or implies.
"asking you out"----inviting (usually) a woman for a date.
"offering you out"---usually one man inviting another man to "step outside" for a fight ( punch-up ).

i never heard of "calling you out" except in kid's games....you call people up, you call them down....you ask them in and kick them out....but call them out? you're OUT! get off the playing field.
