Please be sure you are truly and permanently OUT of the organization, for your future wife's sake as well as your own, not to mention any children you may eventually bring into the world. Right now you are on an equal footing; going back "for your parents' sake" or to be on good terms with your JW friends is how you become "unevenly yoked". That would be difficult for everybody involved.

Becoming "unevenly yoked" ?
by Blttex ini haven't been to a meeting in about a year, made up my mind about six months ago that jw's are just another religion and that its not for me.
started dating a "worldly" girl 10 months ago and got engaged this past weekend.
i'm having a hard time deciding who to invite to the wedding.

What, the divine name isn't Jehovah? No, it can't be, it can't be!

Can you take someone with you in Judicial Committee?
by zound ini've heard of a couple of cases of a person being present (maybe wife, or friend) for support at judicial committees - is this commonly accepted by the elder committee or is it just a rarity?.

it is best to have her believing husband present for the hearing.
But an unbelieving spouse? Sorry, that's verboten!

Head Gasket Sorted - with pics
by cofty inok if you clicked on this you might be a mechanical geek like me.
some people love buying shoes or handbags for me is shiny new tools.. for the last few weeks the head gasket has been blowing on my rover 214. fortunately the oil and water hasn't been mixing so no harm done.
the combustion gases have been blowing through the water jacket which made it sounded like a witches cauldron.

The wet liners don't leave much surface for the gasket to seal against, do they? No wonder they are known for failing.

Can you provide some specific examples of the institutions and employers you referred to
In layman's terms, it means saying "you're laid off." It means you don't work here; it doesn't mean you can't talk to relatives who still work there or have a beer with your former co-workers. You could even get a good reference from your former boss, who probably feels bad and wishes business was good enough to keep you on the payroll.

Scary Stuff
by Farkel intoday's high school students in the usa:.
less than 1/2 of them cannot identify the century when our civil war happened.. one in four thought columbus discovered america sometime after 1750.. one in three cannot name one right enumerated in the bill of rights.. three out of four cannot name the first us president.. two out of three do not know the length of term of a member of the house of representatives.. half cannot find britain on a map.. one out of four cannot find america on a map.. when my oldest daughter, who is now a physician was in 9th grade in this once-great state of california, i asked her about the three branches of our federal government.
she was clueless and told me she would take civics in her junior year in high school.

After four years and about $40,000
That's about right for the heavily subsidized "in state" rate at the State University. Full price out-of-state rates and private college tuition is far higher, with top schools charging around $40,000 for tuiton. Room, board, books and other fees are considerably more. Plan on about a quarter-million for four years living on-campus at a good private university. Ouch!

When threatened with legal action, the elders are to contact the branch office immediately. The organization has a legal department with considerable expertise and experience. Do not under-estimate them!

Even if they pass a law against the shunning, that will not stop the attitude behind the practice. The lack of love and concern will show through even as they go through the motions of being "family" to appease the authorities. The point is to punish; if they cannot overtly banish, they will find other ways to inflict the pain. The sinister aspect of the Watchtower shunning policy is that it teaches members, especially children, that such behavior is not only acceptable, but also admirable--and mandatory.
