he was never a jw and i didn't really have a close relationship with him, since he remarried after my parents divorced.
i reunited with him in the mid 90's after over 10 years of not seeing him.. .

it was only this past weekend that i finally stated (both aloud and in print) that i would never attend another meeting again.
like many brothers before me, i have decided to symbolize this new dedication to freedom for myself and my family with a beard..
This thread is cracking me up. I love the "two questions" and Sd'7's affirmative and loud "YES". We all heard that brother. It just hit me how big a deal this beard thing is for guys. I'm married to a military guy so no beards aloud, I was a jw forever, so I never knew beards. But I guess it's a big deal! You guys go for it! I'm going for the tattoo myself this summer.

i'm surprised they don't tell people to empty the garbage and polish their shoes when they get horny rather than engage in phone sex.

here's my situation.
i scored pretty well in the asvab and now have my pickings of the available mos in the army reserves.
pretty sure i'm shoe in, except for a minor detail.
I'm guessing you have never ever been in a position to make a legal claim of being a conscientious objector before, so you would not be lying.
That's the key right there. If you've never been faced with that situation, you've never conscientiously objected to anything. Join the military, I don't think you'll regret it. If you can stick it out the 20 years your benefits and job opportunities will be well worth it.

Jambon you have done a terrific job in your writing of your experience a truly beneficial read. I am so thrilled that you fought for your kids and have won. Your wife will come along but I'm so happy you two are at a place of compromise. The book by Steven Hassan on mind control could really help your situation if you haven't already read it. It's been talked about extensively on this forum. I'm so proud of you and your parenting. You are your children's protector, and I wish more kids had fathers like you.
I also feel that the turn of events has been a victory over the WT organization. I am just so determined not to have to play by their rules & outrageous requirements for kids.
