  I never understood field service...

  it was always boring, and i was afraid that i was gonna get attacked by a dog.

  i actually almost got attacked by a rottweiler once.

  i didnt get paid for it, nobody listened to us, i actually had guys make passes at me while i was out doing street corner, i was always afraid i would get grouped and raped.

  I have to agree with you Joliette about not understanding field service. I actually never went out as I couldn't find the specific scripture stating handing out Awake! and Watchtower magazines door-to-door was the 'works' Christ spoke about in the Bible and that this would ensure my eternal life. My Mom tried to tell me I was risking this but she could never back it up specifically with a scripture that says these magazines had to be handed out.

  Of course, we all know now it's really just busy work. It isn't that effective but it makes JWs think they are doing God's work.
  

  Edited to add: In the 25+ years my Dad went door-to-door he never once convinced someone to join. Those are some really crappy results.

  Why do girls have a hymen?

  if you believe humans evolved, and were not created, why would having a hymen help, especially as no other mammal has one?

  if you believe humans were created by {a} god, or intelligent beings with advanced technology, what was the reason for a hymen?

  i'm interested to hear your thoughts on this unusual subject, not many people talk about..

  Coded Logic, that segment from Sagan's Cosmos series is one of my faves. Eratosthenes became one of my heroes from that.
  

  I have stated this before but I will state it again.... What I like about Science is this... if you don't believe what they tell you they don't threaten you with judgment and if found unworthy, torture and burn you for all eternity in a lake of fire.

  My RC hearing brought forward. Will be in two weeks

  through this forum of wonderful freaks, i have met someone who is coming with me to my hearing.

  initially i was slated for next year, but will be attending in two weeks time.

  all is in place from travel vouchers, support, where to go ............very efficient and well done.

  They want good suggestions as to how to prevent the problem of covering up abuse and disempowering the "authoritative bodies" from exerting overt influence in this matter.

  This issue is broader than abuse and goes to the core of JW doctrine in many ways. My first suggestion will be for them to lose tax exempt status.

  Mandatory back ground checks of members and child safety requirements/processes need to be put in place.
  

  Enacting laws that abolish Botchtower's harmful doctrines is needed. This should include eliminating:

  1) Coercing people into not taking lifesaving medical treatments

  2) Encouraging people not to take higher learning/education

  3) Shunning

  4) Mandatory Field Service and browbeating people who can't do this
  

  Basically, the elimination of Patriarchy is needed but doubtful that will happen.

  We cannot abstain from blood. Our bodies need it and they keep producing it. If bodies fail, a transfusion would be acceptable.

  god prohibited the eating of blood.

  in genesis, leviticus and deuteronomy the edict is clear: "do not eat blood !

  " when the apostles said "abstain from blood," jewish christians must have contextually understood that to mean "do not eat blood.

  the more i think about it, the more i feel an extreme dislike for the apostle paul.

  he was on par with hitler in his treatment of the jews before he "saw the light".

  he replaced jesus teachings of love and mercy with a more legalistic, pharisaical concept of devotion to god.. any evil person can come to believe in god and worship him if the scales were literally and miraculously removed from his eyes.
