New Article in JW.ORG "Should Christians Drink Tea?"
by EdenOne inshould christians drink tea?.
would you like a cup of tea?.
this seemingly innocent question has been asked countless times, and is regarded as a gesture of courtesy and hospitability in many parts of the world, in both eastern and western culture.

What I Saw & Heard in the Oral Argument Hearing on January 14, 2015
by ABibleStudent inim not an attorney and i could not record the hearing, so please forgive me if i make mistakes in relating what i remember of the oral argument hearing for jane doe (i.e., candace conti) versus the watchtower bible & tract society on january 14, 2015 and the length of this post.. i arrived at the civic center/union plaza in san francisco, ca about 7:30. the area is very nice with a few homeless people sleeping in the park across from the courthouse.
it took me about 10 minutes to find the clerks office for the court on the first floor, which opened at 8:00.. once the clerks office opened, the two clerks who i talked with were very polite and helpful.
the arguments for jane doe (i.e., candace conti) versus the watchtower bible & tract society were scheduled 5th out of (i think) 8. while i was in the office a cameraman and another person for nbc arrived asking about the hearing for candace contis case.. the courtroom for the 1st appellate court is on the 4th floor and takes up most of that floor.

Outside of every single publication the Watchtower puts out, wouldn't the elder's handbook "Shepherd The Flock" be something that could be used as evidence to show the 'special relationship' between elders, congregations and 'mother' aka The Watchtower? Does this book list the Watchtower as the publisher? -

What is truth?
by Heisenberg inwell, i have been lurking on this site for several months and i recently decided to join as a member.
i have made several observations and would like to make a few comments.. first, i am perplexed by the attitude of many on this site that are either former or active (but apostate) jws.
they seem to have a strong hatred for the wts and also for rank and file jws.

Losing Faith

Welcome cappytan!
It seems everyone has a certain journey regarding faith where many of us exit.
I used to believe in the invisible, silent, ominipotent, omnipresent, omniscient Sky Daddy too. This is what I was told to believe as a child. We are all molded to believe certain things as children. But as adults, we need to use our critical thinking skills and our intellectual honesty about these beliefs. What is working and what is not? Getting educated about what we've been told versus what is, in reality, fact, is key.
I started my journey of non-belief as a 10 year old girl. The Ethiopian famine of the late 1960s/early 1970s had me questioning the claim that God is loving, merciful, and all-powerful. When one hears day in and day out of thousands of people dying of starvation, one begins to question the voracity of such claims. In other words, what is really happening is NOT substantiating the belief statements. My journey continued as a teenager where I began disagreeing with the Watchtower's doctrine and interpretation of scripture. Two of my biggest issues were, and still are, the misogyny, both religious and Biblical, as well as the strict no-blood policy. I knew as a teenage girl there was no way I could ever subjugate myself to my husband. And I could not fathom for the life of me how a symbol of life (aka blood) could be far more important than life itself.
I used to believe in the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and Santa Claus too. But then I grew up. Perhaps losing faith is part of the maturation process..

Surprise ! Surprise ! 2015 Arrives and NO Armageddon or World's " End " - Go Figure
by flipper ini guess 99.9 % of ex-jw's here could have predicted as much .
armageddon didn't happen in 1914. it didn't happen in 1925. it didn't happen in 1975. and it did not happen in 2014. since the wt society first predicted a world's end when their organization started in 1879 - 126 years have passed which according to any dictionary in any human language 126 years comprises of 4 separate generations each totaling 30 years each.
plus 6 years into a 5th generation.
