...I saw a lot of child beatings in the JW KHs... I remember when I was seventeen I had to pull a little blond girl (12 years old) off of the throat of her little black girl (12 years old) best friend. She had a double-handed throatlock on the other kid and was slamming her head into a support pillar of the KH. Mind you, there were many adults standing around chattering after the meeting which had just closed, but they were totally oblivious to what was going on. Immediately after I separated them and asked the little black girl if she was alright, I hear my mother's totally clueless voice shrilling behind me, "And here's [my name], playing with the little kids again!" That experience taught me quite a bit about the mind-numbing effects of WTBTS mind control - apparently all the adults were pretending it wasn't happening!!! That little blond girl was third-generation JW, by the way - her grandmother had gone around all the doors with the phonograph player running the recording by ol' Drunk Judge Rutherford in the '30's. Her daughter, the child's mother, had briefly come to her senses and left the religion, but Grandmomsy apparently guilted her back in. Then she tried to get her unbelieving hubby into the religion and beat her own kids. No wonder the blond kid snapped...

But I never got to see elders going at it, blast it all!! Zid

Worldly Mannerisms That Dubs Avoids

i know some mannerisms to avoid such as when someone sneezes, dubs don't say, "bless you" or "god bless you" for sacrilious reasons.. so the question is, what worldly mannerisms do dubs avoid?.

Does anyone know whether that goes along with the restriction they tried to pass - or did they actually pass it?? About not being allowed to be a JW if you were overweight???? I've been out for about 24 years and dang near ready to go back in just to find out whether some of this WTBTS sh*t is actually happening - as a 'mole', mind you...

Blondie, you're an absolute wonder!! You know your WTBTS literature backwards and forwards - especially in finding the bizarre stuff with totally no biblical backup for their beliefs. Thanks for sharing your research!!

BTW, does anyone here ever go over to e-jehovahs-witnesses dot com?? Some person named shikinah has posted (under "Egyptian Connections") some guff about Charles Taze Russell being right, after all, about his obsession with the Great Pyramid! Here's a little excerpt:

"I have been trying to find out why Charles Taze Russell had a fascination with great pyramid, as this has become quite well known, and can be a stumbling block to many who wish to know the truth. But from what i can see he may have a legitimate reason for his beliefs as they seem to also be linked to the Hyksos Shephard Kings, who once ruled egypt for 400 years and from what i have read were the settlers of Jerusalem,..."

He/she rambles on:

"Above Russell clearly speaks about this knowledge becoming abundant in the time of the end and it has been kept secret. This conclusion of Prof. Smyth's as to the date of the Great Pyramid's building, was most abundantly corroborated, later, by certain measurements by which the Great Pyramid indicates its own date of construction. A realization of the fact that the Great Pyramid exhibits a wisdom of design which the Egyptians could not have possessed--a divine wisdom which must have been worked out under the supervision of some inspired servant of God--has led to the conjecture that Melchizedek was its builder..."

The Egyptians who built the other great pyramid, as well as those that made the so-called 'bent' pyramid who initially developed the technique, sure would be surprised to hear about that... Not to mention Pharoah Ramses!!

Then he/she finishes with:

"Its all very deep and to say the great pyramid was gods word in stone is even stranger.. who was melchizedek and if he ordered the building of the pyramid where did he come from, without having any genealogy?
May be Charles Taze Russell had some valid reason for his strange ideas and he doesnt seem to be the only one at his time"

Things You'd Like To Say But Stifle Yourself From Saying

due to the fact that my mother and some other relatives and a handful of friends are devout jehovah's witnesses, i sometimes stifle my remarks regarding "the truth".. my mother asked me if i felt bad at all for not attending the memorial this year.

(she still holds hope i might come back).

i simply said that i did not feel bad at all.

it looks like there could have been several stories, over 135 meters long from what i can tell, and about 20 meters wide.

Hmmmm. Now that I look at the photo, my latent geological interest is kicking in... Looks like an eroded anticline. Sometimes this is caused by gypsum/salt [not just halite...] deposits (salt domes) being pushed up from beneath by tectonic pressures. The salt/gypsum dissolves quickly, especially after the uplift causes cracks in the overlying rock layers, then it dissolves and all you have left are the ridges of the anticline outlining the original uplift - in effect, sort of a 'popped' rock 'bubble' - if you consider that it takes [approximately, depending on the size and tenacity of the overlying rock layers...] a couple million years to dissolve the center...

makes some neat rock formations... check out "upheaval dome, utah" on GoogleEarth if you want to see an excellent example - although they're still debating the origins of that formation. Some think it may be an impact crater... Zid

PS also check out the San Rafael reef in Utah - lots of 'sharks' teeth' erosional formations!!
