as a christian, i would like to apologize for the stupid and insensitive remarks made by pat robertson.

instead of throwing stones from his ivory tower in virginia, he should have taken a que from the one he claims to follow who when asked about the murders of galileans making their sacrifices by pilate said, "do you think that these galileans were worse sinners than all the other galileans because they suffered this way?

but unless you repent, you too will all perish.

Pat Robertson is to Christians what the Underwear Bomber and other radical Muslims are to Islam. IMO. And many other calm, rational people like me. *We* realize that he is a moron who doesn't speak for mainstream Christians anymore than Osama Bin Ladin does for mainstream Muslims.

So, when a Liberal (It usually is a Liberal) groups all *Christians* under the banner of the 700 Club, *they* look not too bright. Would the Pope agree with Pat Robertson?

I don't think you need to apologize for him at all. Especially on a board full of Ex-JWs. People who might have agreed with his message not too long ago when they were JWs. They might not have voiced it, but they thought it. You know they did.

how can the Jw's explain away the haiti earthquake?

i'm sure they will get asked on the doors "how could god let this happen?".

i belive the standard answer is a fudged recitation of adam and eve, basicly meaning its ok that these people died becuase way back when, someone disobeyed god, and that makes it ok.... any other stupid jw explanations for this?.

This is a "Sign of the Times" and a sign we are in the "Last Days of the Old System of Things".

BTW, on the top of the link they say God does not create natural disasters. So, you point out that they are just a sign of the last days and the GT is starting and Armageddon is right around the corner. In 2012. No, 2034. Or, maybe when people who were alive to see Miley Cyrus die, die.

My hypocrite JW family

recently my mum told her jw family that she was da'ing herself and why.

as you can imagine, they were not happy and the shunning has begun (not to mention one of her sisters sending her a horrible letter and the other sister spitting vitriol and hatred down the phone at her - very christian).. now, if my mum's family were totally upright, loyal and zealous witnesses the shunning would still be horrible but somehow easier to bear - at least you could respect their consistency.

but the fact is, one of her sisters has covered up and made excuses for years for the immoral and wayward behavoiur of her own children, proudly declaring 'no one (meaning the gb) tells me what to do'.

I am so very sorry you and your Mom are dealing with this. This is not uncommon at all within the JW bOrg. The DFd cousin/niece is a new one. I have a DFd cousin who will speak to me at least.

My Mother told me she is going to the KH tonight with her checkbook because she knows the Elders will ask for donations for Haiti. Ummm, when have they set up relief for any disaster and when have you seen JWs in the news for being charitable?

I say never.

imagine the best case scenario.

the watchtower society implodes from within even making final printed admissions that it is voluntarily dismantling it's mission and legally dissolving the corporations.

I agree with Mary and Oppostate.

Many who are in simply will not believe that the FDS wasn't being persucuted. They would call and look to the local Elders for direction and would, no doubt, get it. At least from the Elders with nothing better to do than lead some faithful Sheep around. Oh, and those donations that should go to Brooklyn will come in real handy paying the Elders mortgage.

No matter how you tried, you will not convince them that the Watchtower Corporation breaking up was not real, true, etc. They will see Satan's hand behind it and be more convinced than ever that it is a sign of the times and a sign of the Last Days. This will only push them to the realization that we are in the Great Tribulation.

I simply don't see some not getting together and continuing to call themselves JWs and creating a new religious organization.

A young girl named Tiffany, also from the United States, contacted the headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses after two hurricanes hit Florida in 2004. “My brother Timothy and I would like to donate $110,” she wrote. “Our house did not receive too much damage, but we saw what the storms did to other houses. We wanted to help, so we started to save our money. Timothy got $10 for helping to rip out drywall from a house, and I was able to save $100.” Tiffany is 13 years of age, and her brother Timothy is just 7! What happens when we put others’ interests ahead of our own? Proverbs 11:25 states: “The one freely watering others will himself also be freely watered.”

i think we need to know the organizations who are responsible for these things.

are our donations being used to finance any of these opportunists?.

I would guess that the US Government ship Comfort is being sent just for this purpose. They even said they can't do organ transplant which makes it a perfect cover to do organ transplant. (I'll bet they have a few hundred rich, Fat Cat Bankers on the boat who need new Livers from all the drunken carousing they have been doing, waiting on those big bonus'!! Grrr Down with Capitalism!! )

Plus, think of all the people in Florida who could use an organ transplant. A quickie boat ride over. Heck, Carnival Cruises might already have this set up. Again, the DR, right next store has dry ice. Don't discount the human spirit when organs are involved.

My concern is that, like what happened in Pakistan, rather than rescue victims that may need extensive medical care, decisions may be based on what is most lucrative in the interest of commerce.

Practice for the new, Government run healthcare system we will have here in the States.
