Who is the god of the J.W.?
by Aculama inthis one is mostly for those who believe in god ( though i don't wish to exclude any interested ).
it is my belief that the j.w.
organization painted a false picture of who god is by means of false doctrine, misinterpretation of scripture, and false prophesy.

Paul and Jesus
by Slappy inmaybe it's just me, but lately it seems like there is a trend (well, moreso than usual in any case) of saying that paul is somehow of a different mind than jesus and that the teachings of the two contradict each other.
while i can see where having a jw background can easily bring this type of thinking around, most especially since they extol the teachings of paul and completely ignore christ, most of you are no longer under the power of the watchtower...er, you aren't are you?
and as such, you should be free of most, if not all, of the brainwashing to occurrs.

In the Bible, what does" stop judging " mean to you ?
by caliber inmatthew 7:1, 2--stop judging that you may not be judged; 2 for with what judgment you are judging, you will be judged.
the greek word in that verse is krino.
there are seven (7) different meanings to that one word.

Is it the JW's or the God of the bible you no longer believe?
by reniaa ini have a question for the ex-jw's on this forum after months of reading the forum..... many say how good it is to be free of the oppressiveness of the jw's that they can now enjoy the freedom to... have sex, celebrate christmas, gamble, embrace politics etc.
there are still biblical scriptures and principles in place that if you still followed the bible would mean you avoid these things and yet these are now embraced as one of the perks of no longer being a jw so in my confusion i ask.... if these are what you want, isn't it more correct to say you no longer follow the bible as apposed to just the jw's?.

Economic Crisis!
by the sage inhave we arrived?.
rev.16:16 then they gathered the kings together to the place that in hebrew is called armageddon.. rev.16:19 the great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed.
god remembered babylon the great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath.

Issue of universal sovereignty not settled until after 1000 year reign!
by yadda yadda 2 inthe watchtower soc and others say that the bible teaches that jehovah is allowing time to pass so that evidence can build up to prove that man cannot live and govern himself independently of god.
the argument is made that god has tolerated wickedness so that the evidence can gradually accumulate against satan's claim that god's might does not necessarily give him the right to rule and that man can rule himself successfully without god's direct governance.
when armageddon breaks out, it is said that the evidence will be conclusive that man could not rule himself independently of god and the devil's claims were false.. the analogy is put forward that this drama is being played out like some great universal court case in heaven, with judges sitting examing evidence being presented to assess the devil's claims.

Most damning portion?
by Slappy ini've tried posting this twice b4, but apparently firefox wasn't working all that well, so i'll see if it actually works with ie.. ****************************************************************************************************************************************.
is luke 23:39-43 the single most damning portion in the bible for the jw, mormon, and other similar 'religions' that profess to believe in the god of the bible?
when did the thief do good works in order to attain his salvation?

Any thoughts on the 'Brethren'?
by Slappy inas my bio mentions, i grew up in a non-denominational setting and am very thankful for that.
however, there are still a few things that are held within this setting to be truth (will of god, biblical, or whatever else you care to call it) that i find very disconcerting.
i've tried, on various occassions, to discuss this with others within the 'brethren' but they are leery of such topics and tend to view me as cynical and jaded and a danger to the proper order of things .

Different Dress Codes in Different Regions?
by StAnn ini was just talking with a woman i know in nj and she said that 30 years ago the jws used to come to the door all dressed up but now the women come in slacks and she's even had some come to her door in "nice" jeans!
she said that you can tell it's jws, not mormons, because the mormons won't wear jeans out in their ministry.. i've never heard of this at all.
around here in ohio, everyone still dresses up.
