What ALWAYS annoyed me was that anything considered 'a matter of conscience' was basicallly wrong in JW's eyes. They might as well just say its wrong, but no, they like to lay the guilt trip on everyone and if anyone dared actually do something that was a 'matter of conscience' they would get it in the neck anyway.

Ever lie on your service reports?

did anybody out there lie on their service reports that they maintained the 'national average' when in reality you got .005 hours of service in any given month?
i magically always used to always get "10" hours out in service, while nobody ever saw me at the groups, no one ever caught on, or seemed not to -- maybe they just didn't give a shit.. i always lied so i could keep my microphone 'privelidges' -- that being, the privelidge to walk around at the back of the hall giving my deflated ass a break from those awful chairs they had.

Oh, I was an expert at that!
My main problem was that my dad was the secretary so I had to be very clever about it.. I would go out on FS, do the mandatory hour, then clear off round the shops for a few hours to kill time. I would then stroll back home and announce how tired I was for spending 4 hours on FS!!
it was easier to lie about placements and RV's though..

English elder logs in.
by caspian inhi everyone.. my name is caspian, i am an elder in a congregation in england.. i have been reading this forum for about 12 months, never having the confidence to log in.. however after all the information that has come to light in the recent weeks, i feel that i need to start coming to terms with the crisis that i now feel.. i am a third gen jw, and been an elder for 15 years, my family whom i love dearly are all naive fully committed jw's.. please if any current or ex elders in a similar situation care to make any good advice.

Yes, I think some congregations 'read between the lines' and decided to 'advise' cong members not to watch it. I dont doubt that most congs probably didnt say anything either way but for those that did, it seems the majority of the cong members did as they were told and didnt watch it.
One elders wife I spoke to had this reaction when i asked her if she had seen it.
"That rubbish? ha! Wouldnt give it the time of day. Its all obviously ridiculous lies and Apostates trying to cause trouble.'
And they reckon they aren't brainwashed eh?

U K ELDER JAILED 2 YRS, TODAY

bbc central news have reported that james barrat , an elder in rugby congregation has received a two year sentence for abusing two teenage boys over a ten year period.. the abuse took place at bible studies .. the judge called him an "arch hypocrite".
the police said he is "extremely dangerous" and one of the victims , now in early 20's,gave an interview and said "do not bother with the elders, go straight to the police

I was told by a JW that knew him well that he would regularly visit Bethel and treat the bro's there with his homeopathic stuff. I was told he visited Bethel 'once a week' but i can't see that being likely. I know that alot of JW's from far and wide would go to him for his remedies and the like. Sounds like he had a booming trade with JW's.

I have just been told this evening that my ex-cong were yesterday 'advised' NOT to watch Panorama as it was 'all apostates.' This info came straight from an elder and I actually asked him to repeat what he said in case i misheard. Yes, he said, the society recommended that we don't watch it. And they didn't.

If this letter has gone directly to PO's and not even the other elders are gonna get a peek until tomorrow, doesn't it seem like they are going to great lengths to keep this letter from turning up in places like this forum? It wouldn't surprise me either if they have been told to destroy it after it is read out. They will know that their lame excuses and reasoning would be of great interest to those in the media that are investigating them already.
Anyone fancy placing a bet on when (if ever) this letter sees the light of day?

Can anyone tell me which Digital Satellite Channel this is on? I've had a good look around but can't seem to find out.
