I would certainly discourage her from getting baptised. There will be a lot of pressure from her friends. How old is she?

A problem with my daughter
by DATA-DOG inshould i try to dissuade my daughter from being baptized?
she doesn't seem to be in hurry.
all her " friends " are already baptized, some since early childhood which is ridiculous in my opinion.

Another benefit to being an ex-jw
by jeremiah18:5-10 inthis year my wife, kids and i are celebrating christmas and birthdays for the first time.
having been a born-in, i was raised to believe that these events were not only pagan in origin, but also self-promoting and greedy.
what i have learned as the year as progressed and as christmas gets closer is quite the opposite.. as it turns out, my wife and i never learned how to give gifts and to shop for other people, neither have my kids.

Christmas is great fun!! I celebrated for the first time as an adult in 2008. My boys were thrilled (15 and 10 at the time). We started our own Christmas traditions and make the day all about family.
Enjoy your new life with your family.

She sounds like a wonderful mom. You should send her a letter/card and put that in there. I'm sure she would appreciate hearing it.

Shunning - The Article that started so much pain and heartbreak (WT 1944, May 15)
by bats in the belfry inmy sister and i were just talking about this very topic this morning.
when jesus supposedly chose the watchtower society as the faithful and discreet slave in 1918, no one got disfellowshiped for anything!
how is it that now, in 2012, our disfellowshipping policy is used as proof that they are god's earthly visable organisation, in that they "keep the congregation clean?".

What Made You Question "The Truth"?
by minimus inin the the early 1970's, i used to enjoy going to assemblies, conventions and hear special talks given by bethel heavies.. in those days, we were believers and we applied ourselves as "ministers" with pride.. once the "end" was obviously not within our "generation", many of us started losing interest.. we started to think more critically.
it took a long time but once you start recognizing the bullsh*t, it's hard to stay in and truly believe at the same time.. .

The NBC show on pedophelia within the WTBS caused a 'slight' crack in my spiritual armor. There was a male-can't call him a man-at our congregation that benefited immensely from their weak policy on child sexual abuse. He had many victims and one of them committed suicide. So, i knew firsthand that what the people on the Dateline show were saying was true.
Then several years later, I was looking at the evil internet and looked up JW's and 1975. That opened my eyes and I did more research, found JWD, read Crisis of Conscious and never looked back.
My life has improved more than i had ever imagined or hoped for. It's wonderful to be free of those WTBS lies.

There is also the story about the two sisters that are in service and come to the door of a serial rapist/murderer. Later on, after the guy is caught, he tells the police the reason he didn't harm those two JW ladies was because of the great big guy standing behind them. It was an angel protecting them, or so they say.....
Love these kind of threads.

Finally! -- Why the WTS Discourages Higher Education
by Recovery ini'm sure many of you have been wondering why the wts has stuck to it's adamant viewpoint of higher education.
let's settle it once and for all.
this will prove conclusively why it's in young people's best interests to avoid higher education.. candace conti has inspired hundreds, perhaps thousands of young girls across america to successfully take on the wts.

I think the hallucinatory drugs can help her put it in "lamens terms" for everyone. It's LAYMAN'S terms. Seems like Recovery is a product of the WTBS policy on Higher Education---LOL.
