The branch coordinator wept during his convention
by Liquidizer inthe local branch office coordinator, mr. kankaanpaa, delivered the final speech in the summer convention held in tampere, the third largest city here in finland, and demanded all the ex-jw's to return back to the org.
suddenly he began to weep.
when he got his emotions under control, he instantly returned to the tradiotional wt phraseology: threats, intimitation and almost name calling (you know, that apostate stuff).

"Nourishment For The Spirit" #2
by hillary_step inmax, excuse the plagiarism of your thread heading.
royalties on the way!.
a few weeks ago maximus began a thread which he named nourishment for the spirit which resulted in a most interesting discussion of books that we had read and that meant much to us as individuals, some acknowledging that the books had added much to their lives.. now i would like to ask a question.. have any of you read or viewed a piece of art, read a poem, or heard a piece of music that actually changed an ethic in your life or adjusted a previously held viewpoint?

Simple questions for my buddy Duns.
by seven006 induns/dan, i have followed the posts where you and alan have gone at each other debating the interpretation of old watchtower articles and the correct definitions of latin terms.
it's about as much fun as watching women's underwear drying on a clothes line.
since alan is a good friend of mine and my statements saying that i do like you are genuine i thought i might be in a position to ask you a couple of questions that hopefully give all us standing in the bleachers watching the game a little better insight on exactly where you are coming from.

TO: MAXIMUS & SEEKER--RE: TROLLISM OR TRUTH
by MadApostate inthe xjw mafia's attack on myself has progressed from underhanded insinuations of "trollism", to alanf's and farkel's failed attempts last week to label me a "wts troll", to yesterday's fullblown attack conducted by kent, tina, and even some of their buddies posing as new posters.
e.h. even accused me of being the same person as "utilitarian reformist".
(wrong!).

Kent, Common Objectives & William Barclay
by hillary_step ini was always impressed with the way that william barclay could encapsulate large and very complex issues into, not just a simple form ( are you listening duns!
) but with a sincere purity attached.
i was honored to meet him when i was very young man in my university years and though a convinced atheist at the time who actually shoved socialist newspapers at people in my local high street, i could not ignore the genuine tranquillity that accompanied this wonderful personality.

Heidegger's Dasein
by dunsscot infor those who have trouble understanding basic existential concepts, may i suggest william barrett's work _irrational man_.
on pp.
218-219 of this monograph, barrett succinctly explains the significance of dasein in heideggerian thought.

Should you write to the society?
by sleepy inwhen someone comes across something in the "truth" that disterbs them should they write to the society or is this pointless?.
i think they should write for several reasons.. 1.you must give them at least a chance to present their side of the story.it is no good just relying for others for your information you can not be shure what the society really belive until you hear it from them yourself.. wasn't just relying on the judgement of others part of what got you in in the first place.. its good for us to try and advance in our way of thinking during life and part of this involves doing our own research which is not complete until we go to the source of our conflict.. also if you bring up the point with someone it gives more weight to your argument if mention you wrote to the society and this was their answer.. 2. the more poeple that write in with the same points the more difficult it will be for them to hold to an erroneous stand.. the more different people that write the more ways of expresing the point will be heared different ways will make sence to different people.. remember its not just the same person answering all letters but different people who will have to do research an answer your point, which could make them think.. (this assumes that the society is genuinely mistaken and not corupt, although it could be a bit of both).
of cource if you do not want hassle off your elders dont tell the society you are a brother/sister or just give a different name ,prehaps you could give the address of your place of work or somewhere else if you don't want to be traced easily.. in my case i just made it sound like i was an intrested person.. or you could make out that you need some help in presenting the societies case to an intrested person who has quetions.
