I'll settle this "who's more stupid" spat.
You're all retarded. I am smarter than all of you.
There, now we can all get along..... MY SPagHetti MOnster! Chill.
i know we all have issues with the borg, but really i think there are far more despicable religions on the go, namely american style evangelical christianity.
i'm watching a film called 'jesus camp' as i type and all i can say is any of you idiots who post on here who say you left the jw's and have now found jesus are totally retarded.
you really need to get a grip on reality and stop needing religion as a crutch.

otwo said this on the "suing the tower" thread.. why is this?
i have noticed it also.
i wonder whether some people would not be comfortable with the idea of a world without the watchtower?
I also wonder whether other ex-JW's are over sensitive to being controlled by others or working towards a common goal
yes, duh. I don't trust you mofo's any more than the F'n D Slavekeeper.
has anybody noticed in many recent watchtowers that christ is now said to have "turned his attention to the earth in 1914.".
unlike the 60's they do not say christ "came" in 1914. the "proclaimers book " p137 says the bible students came to discern that "christ did not return, (even invisibly), in 1914.".
the way is now paved.
Oh, Mouthy should wait for these references.

WHOA!!!
Mouthy can be re-instated now, wee!!!!
We'll miss you dear, I wish I could have gotten to know you better. From what I can tell, you're the coolest super-old person I know (that's still alive).
Run on back to your congregation, up on stage during a Sunday talk and yell "BOOYAH" for me. Get it on video and YouTube it, whole nine yards, this is your time to shine.

i was just looking through the june 15 study wt and on page 9 at the bottem of paragraph 10 it says.... additional "disgusting things" include acts of pedophilia and other forms of sexual immorality committed by clergymen and tolerated by the church authorities.
is it any wonder that jehovah god will soon rid this earth of false religion?.
.

i know that many of you have not been to distric conventions in some time, but what i am about to describe is a recent trend.. 1. more people than seats.
for the past six or seven years, they've tried cramming too many congregations into one convention hall at one time.
in many cases, if you do not get to the convention more than an hour before the program starts and you need more than a couple of seats, you cannot find seats.
Oh yeah, if you are baptized in any christian faith, you can take communion
AND they have treats! Booyah! Even a Witless baptism? I never did that, so do Episto...alphabet's (spelling?) do a sprinkle or a dunk?

OOOH! A religion where you don't have to believe? Daaamn! These are my kind of people.Ever see those signs at the city limits: The Episcopal Church Welcomes You? They mean it.
They don't believe the bible we have today is necessarily all inspired. They don't all believe you have to be chrisitan to have a good everlasting life. They use reason, tradition and scripture, but they recognize people can and have tampered with scripture with a view to control.
I grew up in the Episcopal church and wish my sister had never influenced me to study with the witnesses. I don't think you have to go to any church. I go for the connection to my childhood. I go for the spiritual feelings I get there. I like the intelligence of most of the people who attend. It's a beautiful service and they don't try to shove doctrine down anyone's throat.
Sounds like a deal!!! Even better than the crazy-ass church retreat I went to to get a day off from Army Basic Training. I "got saved" forever and ever and ever no matter what I do (we presumed including any such unpleasantness as we may encounter in the Army) in exchange for nodding. They said to say "yes" I nodded, it stuck, they aren't even strict on the instructions about "how" to get saved it seems. Pretty slick, except it required being in the presense of some pretty insane backwater smelly people from nowhere in Missouri (Mizurah). That kind of customer service with people who aren't scary-nuts and toothless would be a trip! I'm going to an Episcopalianish Church next Sunday. (does my standing nod stick or do I need to nod again for these people?, not sure if credits transfer etc, but no biggy)
i remember in my teen years thinking about the constant warnings of satan "transforming himself into an angel of light" and wondering how in the world did i stand a chance against a demon?!
a demon thats had thousands of years to suss things out and trick people in various different ways without them even knowing.
he led angels to rebellion.
I thought it was my own weakness and doubt in my abilities at the time but maybe I've had an underlying doubt in the Society the entire time? The constant reminders that Satan is stalking us like a lion and reading quotes from the WTS, like the above, has pretty much cured me of any religious inclinations. Has anyone else felt like me?
*grunt* yes

it's not that simple of course but i would certainly appreciate the freedom and time that cash in the bank would give me.
.
how about you?.
I'm not rich, but I'm single and theoretically could support a wife and 4 kids on what I earn. I actually feel a little guilty about it. Plus I'm making close to 100 grand in a stock deal that closes later this year. I don't feel like I deserve that either.
Money doesn't buy happiness, it buys options and freedom. The real "worth" of money is feeling like you deserve it. A well earned paycheck "feels" good. I know a lot of independantly wealthy people on Prozac, they're happy, I guess.
The moral of this story is to keep your mind open about such things. Money is a tool. Living your life well creates happiness. The two are not fungible goods.
so 2 weeks ago i went to my 2 day ca.. this had lots of interesting tid-bits, like the wt summary of the generation change.
the conductor said that if we were listeing to jesus speak we would have known he was speaking about us!
then he followed with "and thats probably what they understood too" - i couldnt believe he actually said probably.. anyway, at the end of sunday the do came about and went into a bit about all the things the org has done for us.
This speaker reminds me so much of my PO. One time he made me feel guilty for treating the meetings like a social gathering (it wasn't aimed at me in particular- at least I don't think). "After all, there is more to the meetings than that," he said. "It's God's spirit-directed organization!" I agreed at the time. But now I realize- hey it's just a social gathering!
I can't get over this. HOW STUPID they were for ACTUALLY DISCOURAGING socializing. About 99% of the emotional trauma I endured as a kid was being made to feel guilty about having "worldly" friends, and THEN being made guilty for having "acceptible" friends. Whomever makes the rules for this organization clearly has multiple diagnosable mental disorders. Social Anxiety disorder, depression, Autism, was clearly not the cool kid in school, etc etc etc. Its pretty screwed up to have a happy exclusive cult that punishes by expulsion when there isn't any reason to want to be in it in the first place. Geez. Again, I'd be a wayy better cult leader.
