yes, and I have. Kinda cool at first, felt like "home", I even felt good. Then I talked to people and realized how fucking drip-from-the-walls crazy everyone was. I always felt uneasy about JWs, mostly because I was afraid they could tell I didn't believe, now they scare me.

generally, when this has happened, now and in the past, what appears to have been an instant realization turns out to be exactly what i needed.. have you ever experienced this?.

Why I will NEVER be an elder again

at latest round of co to elders meeting, the co quoted from the society outline.
any elder or ms who encourages college for his kids or others or who allows his children to go to college will no longer qualify.. he then asked if i was going to take the cos encouragement and reach out again to be an elder and get my hours on the ministry up.. i replied "i will never be an elder again - i strongly approve of further education and college and have been through college myself.

I Still Get the Feeling I'm Doing Something Wrong. Ever Get That?
by cognac injust about everyone i've known my whole life thinks somethings wrong with me because of my "abnormal thinking".
everyone is in agreement that there is something wrong with me.. i just keeping thinking i'm doing something wrong or i should be doing something different.
i don't feeling terrible about it or anything, just this nagging thing in me.

I find it helps to just think of yourself as a willful follower of Satan. :) (I'm also a born-in) Then you aren't so much quibbling over details in your mind. I'm not kidding, it helps. I often refer to the line in Huckleberry Finn where Huck thinks about how helping a slave escape is wrong/illegal and he concludes the mater saying "well, then I'll go to Hell!" (meaning I choose to go to hell rather than turn Jim in to the authorities). Its not about negotiating for a change/more freedom, its about rejecting the entire concept that anyone but YOU decides what is right or wrong (ie eat from the tree of good and bad, exactly what the serpent suggested). This works for me because threw the bibke out with the bathwater. If you consider yoursrlf a Christian, aligning yourself with Satan could be problematic, but I hope you find this illuminating one way or another. Realize that no other human being can assess gods intent any better than you can. Bring_the_Light

by Farkel inhow far we've come in just the last ten years.. just ten short years ago, the term jw "apostate" still carried a stigma of held-over shame to most ex-jws and they rarely called themselves by that term.
i wore that badge proudly, but i had already been out of the wts for over 20 years by then.
slowly, but steadily the term went from shame to neutral to a badge of honor!

Bad is no fun, NAUGHTY is where its at! Its interesting, for a very long time a sense of "being bad" has haunted me slightly. I think my bad association with other freed JWs has made the last bit of that sense leave me. I'm now a very good man that happens to enjoy stints of naughty from time to time. :) Never bad. thanks. I was all excited. I thought I found real live JWs, then I realized the crazy-vibe had a slightly different vibration. So THIS is what the "real" FDS keeps bitchin' about with regards to other sects etc. I've never seen"apostatse" behave like anything but angry newly worldish individuals. What would make a body latch onto a new flavor of kool-aid? Weird stuff.
