Did anyone else hear that Weird Al Yankovich had died of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning a few days ago? Maybe I was hallucinating when I saw that little "scrawl" going across the news one night. Anyone?

when i was little, i can remember certain brothers?
who would hide small transistor radios in their suit jackets and listen to nhl playoff games via a small earphone instead of paying attention at the meetings.
these weren't teenagers or young guys... some were elders and/or ministerial servants... yet none of them ever seemed to get counselled for this kind of disrespectful behaviour.. did anyone else ever do things like this, when significant sporting events fell on meeting nights??.
When we had our circuit assembly during football season we would get a friend to go out to the parking lot and listen to the radio for score updates. Then he would come back in and pass the news. Sure eased the boredom.

i was recently diagnosed with attention deficit disorder and depression at 32 years old.
i also have obsessive/compulsive tendencies (ocd), as well as mild motor and vocal tics since i was very young (characteristic of tourette's syndrome).
i'm currently on medication.
Kind of late replying to this post...but hey...better late than never?
My son was diagnosed with ADD at age 8. Was on medications until high school. Then he said he felt the meds "spaced him out" too much and went off of them. He seemed to get somewhat better as he got older. He is now 21 and does not take medication. But he is still highly distractable and many times in another time zone than the rest of us.
I have a family history of major depression (I'm on 3 antidepressants...finally hit the right combination after a decade) and I also think my brother has ADD, though never diagnosed with it. Also my sister's son. I do believe it has some sort of genetic basis.
If there is a good thing about ADD...I think that many of the people I know who have been diagnosed with this are also highly intelligent, artistic people. My sister's son borders on being a genius (in my opinion) and my son is a talented pianist, guitarist and song writer.
I have heard that some of the most brilliant inventors and other artistically inclined people have suffered from ADD. So maybe there is an upside to this disease.
Just my 2 cents and a little more.

as i was gazing at my quite fetching picture posted here from my (much) younger years...i noticed that i had unknowingly become a senior member!
now...it is perhaps a coincidence...but this comes very soon after my 50th birthday and i get to thinking: arghhhhhhhhhh...i turned 50 and they make me a senior member????
good grief.
Thank you arrowstar...yes...1954 was a very good year! A PRE-Happy birthday to you for September. It will be nice to have someone to go to Denny's with!! Ha!
50 is just a double-barrelled 25 yr old - full of vim and vigor but KNOWING how to have a good time and not pay too much for it!!!
That's pretty good boa! In my head I'm still 25 years old and ready to go. It's just my "shell" that slows me down! I'm gonna remember that quote there boa.

have a great day !!
cheers to the next 20 years !!
love you guys !!
Your "ode" to your wife brought tears to my eyes! How sweet and romantic.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO YOU BOTH AND MANY, MANY MORE!!

our eldest son (40) and his wife (37) are expecting their third baby in september (a "surprise" pregnancy.
they got the results of their amnio yesterday and it is another boy.
they have two boys, 10 and almost 4. the ultrasound had given them hope it was a girl, but had an amnio to be sure.. they were disappointed, but my dil had a feeling it was a boy all along, so wasn't too excited about a girl yet.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh...babies. Aren't they great! Congratulations to you and your family Grandma Mulan! I had two boys and always wanted a little girl...but alas...it was not to be. But my son and his wife have a little girl (2 yrs. old)...so now I get to indulge in all that girlie stuff. Boys are A GOOD THING (disclaimer: I am NOT a martha stewart fan but I like the good thing bit).
Best wishes!!

we were fortunate to have fencesitter join today and i asked if i may welcome
fencesitter
publicly here so everyone can get a chance to know this new member!
Welcome Fence Sitter!!
This is a great place to become "socially functional". I'm always more at ease at my computer keyboard than with people. And people here are not too quick to judge either...unless you're a totally rotten, bottom feeding, cruel, tactless fool. I have a feeling from your profile that you are none of those things.

Weasel...welcome! May your posts be many and your problems be few!

Thanks for the Happy wishes desib77!
Mouthy...I feel bad that you feel so bad but I feel good that you have a sense of humor about it. I certainly hope some days are better for you! You are just a tad younger than my own mom (if your age is revealed correctly under your pic); who has since deserted me and shuns me. Maybe I shall have to adopt you as my foster mom! I always appreciate your words of wisdom.
Panda: Sadly...your quote is most true. MY body sways all over the place. When you walk by me you never know what you might get hit with.
Thank you Blondie. My regards to you and Ir REV erent! Hope you are both in better health than last time we spoke. Hmmm...errrr...pm'd anyway.
Thanks for the congrats codeblue!
Actually this post was meant "tongue in cheek" as to my becoming a Sr. member. I'm really all right with being 50. Now where did I put that bottle of valium????

Thanks talespin...yes...it is true...50 should be better than the "lost years" in the JW's.
franklin...the thing about 50 is that I keep thinking of the 40+ years I wasted as a JW and now, at 50, how many years do I have left to finally be happy? Hitting 50 seems to be a time of retrospect.
I must be reading too many obituaries.
I'll tell you though...no matter how many years I have left...THEY'RE GONNA BE SPENT IN FREEDOM!!!
