i wonder what percentage of witnesses would be happy if the org.
crumbled, and they could be set free and live a normal life?.
any clue?
My guess would be a whole lot of them. I've heard of so many cases of people just staying in the org. because they don't want to suffer the consequences of losing their family ties when they leave.
I still remember looking around our KH and thinking..."These people don't look very happy to me!" I betcha many would jump at the chance to gain their personal freedom back again.

i've decided to da myself formally by writing a letter to my old cong.
i feel i need to leave my old life behind and forge a new one, which i don't feel i've been able to do since i left 3 years ago.
there has always been a hope in my family and jw's i was friends with that i would go back at some point.
While I applaud your decision to put the final stamp on an era of your life...be sure that you really are ready to be shunned. My mom told me she would never, EVER shun me no matter what I did. She's been shunning me for the past 3 years and I am neither DF'd or DA'd. So please count the cost in family relationships that may be shattered. Elder's can exert a lot of pressure on those still "in" to shun those who choose to leave.
Just my two cents...I wish you the best!!

i was reading the 1975 thread, and considered posting on it, but since i wasn't born until the carter administration, i don't think i really can comment on it.
i can sympathize, however.. you see, i was raised in the truth.
rarely missed a meeting.
I never really paid attention to much of the "New Light". I was just trying to survive day to day as a depressed, neurotic JW. It all didn't hit me until after we were out and I came here and heard so many points of view concerning all the changes in doctrine and the coming and going of "new light". I must have tried to block it all out while I was in.
So it wasn't really any "New Light" that burned us. Mostly the crazy rules they kept making up that we had a tough time finding in our Bibles. Also the big lack of love thing.

for me its work.
i engage in a hazardous occupation involving people's lives, including mine.
i've seen too many people get injured needlessly and its not pretty.
I never allow wire hangers in my closets aka "mommie dearest".
Otherwise I'm pretty much who gives a d**n!

Hooray!!! I hope this all ends with the Watchtower having to pay up...though all the money in the world couldn't pay for the harm they have done.

two lovely "sisters" came to visit this morning.
it was pretty hysterical because my nine year old ran up to my bedroom yelling "mom the jewish people are at the door".
i'm like "what jewish people"?
Anyway she asked if she could come back if she had some answers, I said fine....to be continued
OOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhh...can't wait to see how this one ends. You'll probably never see them again. Good for you pc.

i see that some people feel that jwd is a godsend.
they've learned so much in so short of time.....have you been helped by this site and other similar ones here on the internet?
That this site is some form of addiction...but a good addiction (mostly). You could probably live fine without it but why would you want to?
