  Watching my grandchildren (for short periods of time!)

  Working in my garden

  Sunday morning newspaper, drive-thru breakfast at McDonald's, long drive with hubby

  Walking through the woods (best when no mosquitoes are present)

  Seeing my son & wife buy first home

  Seeing my other son get a REAL job (now when will he move out???)

  Listening to my kid's band at a bar...not feeling guilty and having a brew or two

  Saying "Happy Birthday" to the people I love

  Not being a JW anymore

  Feeling like I'm friends with people on this forum even though they don't know who the heck I am

  reading through some of the recent posts, ie; the topic of lazarus and the gay issue, i was flabbergasted at what i was reading.

  i can't believe-well maybe i can, that some people on this site are calling gay people "faggots", and telling that person that they are going to get "what sodom and gomorrah got".. this site has been a godsend to me, and have been telling my friends how nice it is to be in with a group of people who can relate to my life, my feelings, my insecurities, and my fears relating to the org.

  and not being a part of it anymore.

  I'm sorry you had to hear that on this sight Ohiocowboy. That is utterly disgusting and unacceptable behavior. Shame on anyone who said those things. As a JW all my life I lived in a world filled with intolerance and judgmentalism. Now that I am out and free...I refuse to condemn anyone for their lifestyle or sexual orientation. Small minded people will always be lurking in our lives and on this forum. Try to remember that the majority of us here are open minded and non-judgmental.

  i was never "in" the wts, but my husband's x-wife and children are jw.

  he never was...it's a long story, but between the "religion" and other stuff, she's managed to inflict so much damage and pain on him that at one point he was suicidal...so much for "christian love", ya know?.

  looking forward to talking more, if that's ok with everybody!.

  Did I take the correct dosage of antidepressants and pain killers? Will I wake up tomorrow? Or will I be another x-JW suicide statistic.

  Elders performing marriages

  can elders perform marriage ceremonies outside of the hall?

  Wow Bryan...that was a miracle that your father/elder was able to marry you and your girlfriend. Good for them for doing that for you. Our son married an unbaptised publisher who was raised as a JW, and no one...elder or ministerial servant, would even attend the wedding, so giving the talk was a moot point. My husband did the necessary paper work and married them himself. He was not an elder or ms at the time. Caught a lot of flack for that...some elders wanted to DF him for that...can you imagine??? (Yes you can).

  But what happened to our son probably wouldn't have happened in a more liberal congregation. It just depends upon the body of elders and if they still have living, beating hearts and perhaps some sort of brain function. Ours didn't. They're hearts were cold, hard stone and they all could have been declared legally brain dead.

  Getting married when you are not baptised is just asking for trouble.

  Our demise as JW's was set off by the unloving and detestable way in which my son and his fiance were treated by the elders & the congregation in general. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

  some have met in satanic "apostafests" and may have got the measure of each other more clearly, but how do you think others view you?

  Circuit Overseer Visit....not interested

  last night was the first meeting of the circuit overseers visit.

  i didnt go, but i know (because of a call from an elder about two weeks ago) that they are going to visit me this week.
