  Is the Bible Really the inspired word of God?

  i ask this question simply to see what others think....... when my daugther was 16, she came to me late one night after we had come from a meeting and asked me...."mom, what if the witnesses have it all wrong?

  there are only 66 books that we use, what if we are worshipping the wrong idea?

  " she then walked out of the room and went to bed...... god, did that open a can of worms.....because i actually started thinking on that.. however, i took it a step further....what if religion on whole had it all wrong....so i began to do research, and what i found was amazing to me..... 2timothy 3:16 began to 'ring' in my mind....."all scripture is inspired of god...." funny, didn't say just 66 books were inspired, but all scripture....then i began to break it down....what was scripture?

  This can be very easily demonstrated by pointing to the scientific absurdities in the bible:

  for example:

  Genesis 1:30 : All animals were originally herbivores. But, of course, we now know that there were carnivorous animals like the T-Rex millions of years before humans existed.

  Leviticus 11;5-6 : The bible says that hares and coneys are unclean because they "chew the cud" but do not part the hoof. But hares and coneys are not ruminants and they do not "chew the cud."

  Leviticus 11:23 : this bugger made me LOL. You'd think that since God made the insects, and so many of them (at least several million species), that he would know how many legs they have!

  GOOD MORNING!

  good morning folks.

  before i get into contention with anyone today i wanted to wish you all a wonderful day, week, month, and year.. after being pretty depressed this weekend, and into this morning i'm feeling better.

  two things lay behind this; i went to mass this morning, which is almost always a pick-me-up; and i start instructing a new class today.. the depression was just as a result of dealing with my wife and her mental illness.

  Okay, I'm setting up a visit from the local Dubs..

  ... don't worry, this is just for recreational purposes... anyone who has ever read a few of my posts will realise i am unlikely to 'go back' (the idea make me want to heave).. i had a few dubs turn up last year sometime, ... i live in holland, but am english, and my dutch isn't so good, so i asked them to send someone who could speak english round.. they sent round a wal-mart (well, the dutch equivalent) dressed pioneer couple, he dumb, she actually quite bright, but their english wasn't that good (they didn't even know what apostate meant).

  in any case, as this was the first time i had some witnesses to myself since i'd left 9 years earlier (other than my family, but they don't count), i managed to speak for about 45 minutes before drawing breath, or really allowing them to talk, going from the un issue through blood to evolution to prophetic failure.

  however, the language level was too low for us to really communicate well, and i was, er, i guess you could say, "getting it off my chest".... a few weeks ago another dub called round briefly, and i mentioned i was english, and lo and behold, last saturday, a pio from the local english speaking congregation came round.

  Hi U_R!

  Your reply made a lot of sense. I too think that relaxing the most rigid doctrines does not make it right al together. it would make it more mainstream and that is always good.

  What the WT relaxing on policies will do is reunite families and bring in many more voluntarily donating members.

  They will have to change indeed, otherwise they will cease to exist.

  If I remember the WTS once thought Jesus was beardless. in their publication, from paradise lost to paradise regained they portraid him like a young Greek. very odd. they said it was what the oldest evidence suggested. like francois said he was a jew and looked like one. Why did Judas had to betray him with a kiss? If jesus looked strange to them, or even had a Halo, judas would just have to say: "you see that freak over there? that's him!". Also if Jesus was beardless the jews would have seen him as a Roman collaberator, an infidel.
