Virgin Birth Claim Disproves Biblical Inspiration
by AlanF inmany bible believers claim that the old testament contains over 300 so-called messianic prophecies.
however, a careful look at such claims shows that at least 80% of these have absolutely no connection with jesus, or with events beyond what the ancient writer was concerned with.. take, for example, the famous example of the supposed virgin birth of jesus.
this is based on the text of matthew 1:18-23 (nasb):18 now the birth of jesus christ was as follows: when his mother mary had been betrothed to joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the holy spirit.

I have heard and read the claim that virgin birth myths existed long before Jesus day in other cultures/religions.
I have not seen any proof of this claim though.
Does anyone here know what evidence exists to support this?

What were you thinking when you got yourself babtised???
by greven inthis is actually more than one question.
but let me first explain my own experience:.
at about the age of 16 my parents started asking the famous question: what is keeping you from getting babtised?
-

AGE: 16 SEX: MALE YEAR 1975
First thought: I better get baptised before end of year if I want to save my ass and live forever.
Second thought: As a baptised minister I am now qualified to reach out in the service to the many beautiful elders daughters.
Today: What the hell was I thinking?
what were you thinking when you got yourself baptised?
background: male, age 16
First thought: It's 1975 and the end will be here before year end, I better take care of this thing and save my ass.
Second thought: Doing this will open up to me many more options for poon tang not available to an unbaptized publisher.
Send me, send me. [:D]

Surely the Holy Writers of the Awake are not suggesting how to dissipate sexual tension.
Notice the big smiles on all the womens faces who are riding the bikes? No seats!

QFR Mar 15 WT: Home-Delivery Memorial Feast!
by Stephanus innew light?
the oldies who can't attend the memorial can now stay home and get it delivered.
my gut feeling is that this is a sneaky way of confirming to the r&f that annointed are old... like the r&f are going to waste precious ink asking these sorts of questions - they're more likely to be asking: "should we call the police up on the child-molesting po in our congregation?

Anyone know what the customary tip should be for home delivery?

Oh Puurlease...How the WT teaches JWS to pray
by Brumm intechnically speaking, jws are not wrong (according to the societies doctrine) if they pray this way as long as they dont keep repeating the same thing over and over: .
our grandfather who art somewhere in heaven.. mispronounced be thy name.. thy 144000+1 come, their will be done.
on earth as they hover in heaven.. would you care to join me in such a theocratic prayer?

Technically speaking, JW's should close all their prayers with "we ask these things in the name of the Governing Body" instead of "we ask these things in the name of Jesus" because acording to JW doctrine no one can gain salvation unless one obeys, without question, all the teachings of these men. Faith in Jesus alone is not enough to approach god.
