Well done. Iam happy for you and your wife. I hope the "B" gets a long time behind bars. I hope now your wife's healing process may begin now that she was able to confront her attacker. I hope he becomes someones boy toy behind bars.

For not wanting religion you sure discuss it a lot..Are you still on JWD?
by Quirky1 inthis is what my spouse said after i mentioned issues i have seen on here...the bs being combined, the bethelites being reassigned, the possible termination of co's, etc... she said if that i didn't want anything to do with religion that i shouldn't even be on this site looking into issues such as these.
it has made me to wonder if she isn't right.
am i just trying to reason with myself or am i seeking to avenge myself against the wbts?

When you are an active JW it consumes your whole life. In fact, you are told by the FDS that you no longer live for yourself. You live for Jehovah and his purposes. I think it is only natural to seek out others who have experienced this lifestyle and who no longer are a part of it.They help you to gain some understanding of things, give support and sometimes a good laugh.

Wondering if the witnesses here are counting their time talking to us?
by janitorforlife ini'm new to the site and have been watching my husband (thechickennest) enjoy his time with his "freinds".
hope i do too.
someone i work with told me that a witness told her the reason he came and talked to her was to save himself.

Hey, whatever floats their boat. The majority of people on this forum are ex-witnesses and proud of it. We are happy to be out of that cult.

JWD- Some of the Best Supportive Discussion I've Seen
by flipper init certainly is a diverse board we have here , isn't it ?
we all come from different backgrounds, walks of life, and had different experiences in growing up as children into adolescence.
so it should suffice to say, that we will all have a variety of takes on various issues that come up on the board.

hello mr. flipper
good topic
I have been out now for 6 months and JWD has been very good for me in that others on this board can truely indentify with what it is like to be a JW. The constant meetings, field service. The elders and CO always wanting more, your are never good enough. The ansewer to everything is "The New System". There are some very compassionate and lovely people here.

An internal moral compass...
by changeling inor common sense, or intuition...whatever, i think we all have it, to some extent.
but as witnesses, or members of any religion, really, we let an instutition call the shots.
someone else decided what was right and what was wrong, and what the rewards and consequences would be.. those of us that are no longer witnesses nor members of any other religion, how are we doing?

I agree with you 100% channeling. The Org use to monitor us and they did all of our thinking for us. I think for some they do not know how to cope and they have much pent up aggression and frustration. It is a learning process to learn to listen to that voice and trust it. I for one having been getting reaquainted with myself( I have been out for 6 months) and it is refreshing to listen, learn and move forward.

Brilliant book on Brainwashing
by jwfacts ini recently finished the book brainwashing - the science of thought control by kathleen taylor (oxford university press inc., new york, 2004).
this presents an excellent summary of current research into the biology and psychology of the brain and identifies how organizations use this for the purposes of control.
it discusses well known research such as by lifton and festinger, but also goes into a lot of scientific research into the biology of the brain.

Thank you for sharing. Iam going to look for this book. Also, when you said intensive weekend retreat= WT convention my light bulb went off. I never liked going to the conventions and it always bothered me how most everyone in the cong would be so happy to be going. I was absolutely miserable, sitting all day and the talks were soooooooooooooooooooo boring.

Very sickening. The JW's are masters at manipulation and twisting things.

Hello everyone! New here. Born into it....ugh.
by Lady Zombie inwhere to start?.
i thought about typing out a nutshelled life history but changed my mind.
suffice it to say, i was born into "the truth," attempted suicide at 14, "lost my faith" at this time, beat into submission into carrying on as usual, endured a horrible marriage and equally horrible divorce, and am more or less still in it (appearances only!

Sorry, I hit the button too soon.
If you are an adult and living on your own it should not have any bearing on your parents. It is your life and you should live it at you see fit. The elders only have a say if "there is wrongdoing in the same household and you are living under your fathers headship".
