What are your lame memories of events growing up as a J-Dub?
by superman insorry this post is so long but i had to tell this story like most of you here, i grew up as a j-dub and have many memories of many extremely lame events that we had to endure (mainly because of some bone-headed elder, or holier-then-thou pioneer).
i'll never forget probably one of the lamest things that took place growing up as a j-dub.
this one kid (bless his heart, he really tried hard to be cool) in a neighboring hall tried to throw a get-together for all of the young kids in the different local halls.

I'm perfect you're doomed: Tales from a Jehovah's witness upbringing
by superman inme and my wife just got this great book from the library entitled 'i'm perfect you're doomed:tales from a jehovah's witness upbringing' writtin by kyria abrahams (an ex-jw).
i'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned or read it (it's still fairly new), but it is a great book.
for anyone who was raised in the 'troof' or group up in it you will find it very interesting.

Times when you were judgmental as a J-Dub?
by superman inwe all like to point the finger at other j-dubs who are extremely judgmental (and most of them are) but before many of you saw the real light, we were all just as bad as some of the others.
ive got one example about myself.
when i was a more hard core j-dub a friend of mine who wasnt baptized (however raised in it) but studying decided to grow a beard.

What is your thought in this
by superman inmy wife and i (who are both faders) were having a discussion the other day about how most of the jw kids who were teens in the 90's have now left the religion.
i mentioned from personal examples of people i knew, that the one ones who left early (around age 17-19) seemed to end up (though difficult at first) with better lives.
i knew of several who went to college, or learned a trade, married out of the religion and eventually moved on with their lives.

Some JW's just stopped by
by superman ini am at my girlfriends place (she lives in a completely different territory from me and i don't know any of the jw's around here), right now she's at work so i was just listening to music and reading this site and all of the sudden the door-bell rings (must have been jehoova's direction).
i look out her window, and i see brother "old as dirt" with a tacky, out of style leisure suit, and one those stupid looking magazine purses (you know the one that they hold under their arms) and the bible in his hand, and with him is sister "desperate looking, 40 year old virgin" probably a pioneer (you know the type, the semi-homely, probably single pioneer that just spews desperation out of their pores).
well i was going to go down, answer the door, and mess with them (this area is a few hours from where i'm from so nobody knows me here), and do some undercover apostatizing.

Funny JW memories/stories
by superman insince most of my memories of being a jw, are terrible(and i do mean most of them).
i figured i share one funny one.
one time back when they first started the new number 2 talk arrangement (switched to only doing bible readings, and not having to actually write a talk), i got a talk slip but lost it.a few weeks later i didn't realize i had a talk only until i got to the thursday night meeting, and the school overseer came up to ask me, "are you all set for your talk tonight"?

Is this true
by superman ini've been faded and moved out of the area where my records are kept (the old hall i last attended).
the elders there don't bother calling me anymore and even if they did, i've moved so far away that they couldn't stop over for a visit anyway.
since i am in a new area now where no jw's even no that i exist, life is pretty good (i can live a normal life without having to look over my shoulder).

JW's and Homeschooling
by superman inin the mid-to-late 90's i remember the new trend was that a lot of the people that were jw's started pulling their kids out of regular public school and started homeschooling them.
the absolute worst were the kids who had been homeschooled from kindergarten all the way until they graduated.
those poor kids were the most weird, unsocial, naive, sheltered, unadjusted, and uneducated kids i'd ever met.
