Are we suffering from a victim mindset?
by DT ini don't want to be disrespectful or cause needless disputes, but there are some thoughts that have been bugging me.
i have to wonder why former members aren't doing more to combat the power of the watchtower society.
of course, i realise that some have made great contributions and others have to first make their own healing process a priority.

The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and legal action..
by DT inthis international treaty is fascinating, if you are concerned about abuses of power by the watchtower society.
http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/a_ccpr.htm.
i would like to comment on a section of article 18, although many of the other articles are also relevant.. "no one shall be subject to coercion which would impair his freedom to have or to adopt a religion or belief of his choice.".

I propose a telephone campaign.
by DT inthis discussion started on this thread.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/150868/1.ashx.
it's hard to organise activity among ex-witnesses or any group that is primarily defined by what it isn't.

The difficulty of recovering from JW teachings
by DT init's difficult to free yourself from years of cult influence.
i'm concerned that i may still be suffering from hidden assumptions that i haven't considered.
i'll have to examine my thinking for the rest of my life, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.. it would be easier if we could reject everything we were taught, but that's not really possible.

How many apostates are in the governing body?
by DT inif the elders ask a publisher if he thinks the society should change the blood policy or any policy and he admits that he thinks that something should be changed, then he can be disfellowshipped for apostasy.
however, it appears that the governing body periodically votes on proposed policy changes and a 2/3 majority is needed to make a change.
this means that governing body members often openly admit that they disagree with some official policies.

John 19:14, a devastating contradiction?
by DT inmatthew, mark and luke claim that jesus died on passover (nisan 14) john, however, claims that jesus died on the day of preparation for passover (nisan 13) "now it was preparation of the passover" -john 19:14 nwt (it helps to read the context, several verses before and after.
) john also doesn't mention the lord's evening meal with his his apostles on passover.
it would have been impossible, because he was already dead, according to john.. the bible contains many contradictions that can possibly be reconciled if you have enough imagination, but this contradiction seems pretty blatant.

Questioning the question of God's existence
by DT ini don't know if there is a god.
if i knew for certain, this piece of knowledge could serve as a foundation for my world view.
some people are confident they know the answer (both theists and atheists) and their world view is based on this faith.
