  Have any of you heard about "The Cleavage Talk?" C'mon!!

  supposedly about the same time as the bethel visitor's dress code brochure, talks were being given in kh concerning women showing cleavage.. i don't know.

  i haven't heard any of these talks myself, but my folks tell me they have.

  they also told me about the talks given in other congregations (reported to them by their friends).. i guess some cos, pos, etc.

  I was counseled for gawking at some sisters in my hall... I told the elders I couldn't help it, I had a fetish for fully clothed women, and they shouldn't be tempting me into stumbling... so they got counseled and had to start showing skin at meetings from then on.

  Bank of America took $3000 out of my checking account without telling us!

  we are filing bankruptcy in three days.

  we finally got enough money together, which included our government incentive check, to pay the lawyer to do it and last night saw two withdrawals from our checking account!

  perfectly legal the bank says.

  OK I can see why this came as a nasty surprise to LovesDubs, and I sympathize, but let's look at the reality of the situation:

  You owe money to Lender A... You tell Lender A "Sorry I won't be able to pay you back"... You ask Lender A "Hold this $3000 for me, will you?"... You ask Lender A "OK can I have my money back now? Whaddya mean NO??"

  C'mon. What's with the outrage over being made to fulfill a small portion of your contractual obligation that you cheerfully agreed to?

  I think this can serve as a lesson that (a) you may actually be asked to live up to your promises and (b) you are solely responsible for your own financial education, and if you choose ignorance expect to have many experiences like this throughout your life.

  Your financial livelihood being dependant upon one construction loan is not living within your means... it is living on the edge of your means, where a shift in the winds can knock you off the cliff.

  i can't just give up believing in god,but its understandable when god was taking from you,i hope you find peace gods not in a building!

  and he does forgive you when you go to your private place sometimes you can't right a wrong,as long as you add the one you wronged and mean it,we pay all sins through death,christ did that for us!

  Yes, some people are full of hate, but sometimes you may think you're sensing hate when it's not there. So like you say it is not wise to judge. One person's irreverent comment or joke can be taken as hatred by someone on the other side of the screen... hate is a serious and offensive accusation to make, and it is not a term you should throw around casually, broad-brushing entire groups with the accusation. If you're going to accuse someone of hatred you ought to back up that claim and direct it toward a specific offender, instead of simply flinging the accusation out into the ether.

  beerose: I grew up believing in God and I can't just throw Him away!

  And I don't think anyone is asking you to throw God away, I live in the USA which has as a basic principle the idea that freedom of religion is a right. But if you want to discuss atheism/theism you ought to realize that you are exposing yourself willingly to opposing views. I enjoy that opportunity since I was prevented from doing so for so long in the WTS.

  Speaking for myself, you did not offend me, but that's probably only because I did not understand at all what you were talking about with the killing and raping people for fun comments. If I did, perhaps then I would have been offended.

  beerose: That people think its ok to kill someone just to see what it feels like,for someone to suck the spirit out of a little kid,for raping and stealing from people and thinking this is ok you didn't hurt anyone,buy you saying we don't need forgiveness your saying these things are ok to do!

  Hi wings, the realization that my childhood concept of "God" was necessarily all wrong was a difficult process, as I too wondered what, if anything, I could now find to believe in.

  It's still rather fresh for me, being out of the Borg only two years and an avowed agnostic for less, but for now I'm going for "enlightenment." We'll see how it goes.

  dont just list one, list them all so we can laugh because in all honesty i can't believe we believed some of them.

  for example, i was told annie lennox stopped a concert to ask if there was any jw's in the audience, and if there was could they leave as they were stopping the demons getting through...is this even remotely true?

  did annie lennox ask the jw's in the audience to move because they were stopping the snack lady getting through...and it got twisted through chinese whispers.... the other day (i felt sick) one witness was banging on about how amazing it was that the watchtower society's building was the only one standing still...wtf...my stepdad responded with a 'wow thats amazing' and the first brother was like 'yeah i know'...grrrrrrrrr aaaaaaaah screaaaaaaaaam .

  KW13: Oh and the other, Celine Dione doing a Kingdom Melody...haha, as if any of those songs are remotely in tune apart from the ones they stole from Childrens Films and such

  treadnH20: I heard the MP3 of Celine Dion performing the Kingdom song. The performance was excellent. I have heard conflicting reports from VERY reliable sources as to whether or not it was really her.

  Folks, this is 100%... it is NOT Celine, it's a sister from Vegas who is a pro singer, I won't share her name but yes she does sound a little like Celine and she is freaking awesome... the Kingdom melody didn't show off her voice at all. The Society flew her out to New York to record some tracks, apparently they cancelled the project (because it sounded too worldly?), but it leaked out and the Society made a statement saying they do not approve of members having the recording, which also features George Benson. So it was professionally produced by pro musicians and engineers at the Society's direction, only to be shelved by the Society immediately. Really don't know why for sure.

  No word on what it says if you play it backwards.

  George Bush working on Autobiography

  apparently the current president has started work on his autobiography which he hopes to have ready for release when he leaves office.. he's run into a few issues though ... apparently his coloring-in went over the lines in quite a few places and he had trouble cutting out the popup shapes with the plastic safety scissors he was allowed to use..
