  my name is jacobi, i am a born-in but mentally out for more or less a decade at this point (although it was cradual) and about 40yo.

  i don't want to say a lot about my family, but it is a mix of going-through-the-motions, semi-actives (but mentally in), some who have left for a few reasons and one really depressed pioneer.

  because people fade in and out i have managed to slide under the radar and i keep up apperances of not being all-out apostate but i completed my fade about years ago (it also helped i moved to another part of the country).. i might rub some of you the wrong way because of my views on different things like politics.. i am not a trump supporter at all and neither are most people in my country.

  i wanted to ask everyone here , what was your trigger to waking up ?

  i have been waking up for a long time , but in looking back it’s hard for me to look at one event and say “ ah ha “ , i think mine is like a slow leak - like a crack in a damn - and then hold on , because after that it’s just a flood of information.

  It was just everything. Growing up isolated, bored, no intellectual stimulation. How the cong was an ongoing Peyton Place. No fun, no real music, no happiness....not even contentment...no matter what or how much you did it was never even close to being enough. When my ex was outed it astounded me how the elders circled their wagons around him and asked him "was it something your wife wouldn't do that caused you to turn to men". The end .........bye bye. The Internet is the societies downfall.

  i’m curious how many people believe in god?

  i’m not interested in debating why you shouldn’t have a belief in a god or should.

  i was wondering what people think of leah remini's comments on the paul higgins accusations.

  she has said that the 5 women that have accused him of rape and sexual harassment are not to be trusted.

  she says that because 3 of them want to stay anonymous that must mean that they are not accurate statements.

  some of my old jw friends are sickly and getting on in age.

  so far, i’ve only gone to my mother’s memorial and have avoided the kingdom hall altogether.... your thoughts please?.

  I have been comforted by other types of funerals/memorials but the JW memorial is a crass advertisement for the borg. Makes me madder than a comfort.

  for the past 1 year (more like 1.5 years) i have been quietly fading out of the hypocrisy of this organization, but since i still live in the town i grew up in it has been hard, and filled with different challenges.

  Well, in the past, you hardly were exposed to the GB except thru assemblies or an occational quote in a mag. We had no idea how weird the individuals were. Now that they are so out front it is impossible to hide their lack of education, morals, insanity etc. I now say the borg really does embrace a trinity....Jah, Jesus, and the GB. In fact, the GB seems to have more power than the other two.
