Hearing voices, not always caused by demons.
by lancelink inmy wife and i for the past three months have been caring for a teenage girl who was abused by her parents.
she stole a car to get away, and living in prison was a welcome relief for her.
she was in prison for four years, and the state was going to release her, but she would not go back home.. a co-worker teacher that my wife knows told us the situation, and we agreed o help the girl get back on her feet.. well, she dealt with abuse from all aspects đ, and is pretty messed up in the head from all of that.. but by being in our home, she was safe and was learning how to deal with her problems.

by dogisgod incan someone please help me find the video from the society regarding not advancing children's talents?
it's about a child who is very good at something musical and has been invited to participate in a special advanced course but his father explains how that is worldly thinking.

âTree of good and badâ means what?
by venus inif âtree of good and badâ were literal, it would mean adam and eve would know what is âgood and badâ only after eating of that tree.
however, even before eating of it, they would think âit is good for us to eat of this treeâ which means they are already endowed knowledge of âgood and bad.â that means âtree of good and badâ is symbolic of something.. since religious organizations interpret this differently, each reader has to adopt his own conclusion.
for me it looks like this: one thinks of good and bad in relation to himselfâif something is beneficial for him he would say it is good for him, and bad for him if it is not beneficial.

I often wondered why if Satan was so smart, being JCs first creation and being around for kazillions of years......why not induce them to eat the tree of life first? They could still be alive today.....if they existed in the first place.

I saw mine recently......but she didn't see me. I would not seek her or any of them out. If I were stuck in a situation with her I would only tell her that she was the most harmful hypocrite I have ever met. Until very recently I kept very loving feelings about those I grew up with who now shun me. (was never df...just left). I came to the conclusion that I was hurting myself and nurturing feelings of rejection by hanging on to people I would never want in my life now. I feel a lot better because of that. Don't waste another minute on them. You are stealing that minute from things that are good for you.

Where do I go now?
by Libby inso i thought my purpose was to serve jehovah and get baptised.
where do i go now to get baptised?
is baptism even a requirement for serving god or was that just for the disciples and people of that time.

Who baptized Adam and Eve? (if you believe that). I don't recall any baptisms until John the Baptist. Baptism is a meaningless ceremony ..... unless you want to attach any meaning to it you want.

This Weekend's Watchtower Study "What You Vow, Pay" from April issue
by BluesBrother injust some random thoughts here... theme scripture is matt.5: 33 .
we already had a thread explaining that jesus added a "but" after those words.
however, few would argue against the principle of keeping one's word.

Even though my mom was an almost totally immersed in JW doctrine, she led a pretty normal life until she had post partum depression at 33 and they hooked her in. One of her thoughts though was when the Society started this business of "willing" you estate to the Society she was not falling for it. She said, "Jehovah rules everything, the universe....everything. He doesn't need my money."

Feeling Alone. Need Emotional Support.
by Doubtfully Yours inplease chime in if you're one of my kindred spirit that happens to literally be trapped in due to strong family/friends ties, or plain fear of being abandoned in old age.. although leaving the org is my ultimate wish and desire, fear of the unknown, fear of how it would change my family dinamics, plain fear alone paralyzes me.
how do you cope in this difficult situation?
dy.

I am 65 and have been out for years. My job kept me pretty busy but now I am retired. I have found the Unitarian Universalist Church was a good fit for me as it does not force doctrines etc but rather is a very socially conscious group of people. Also, meet up.com is good for meeting people with like interests. Go slow. I didn't fade. There were a couple of momentous events that propelled me out of that snake pit. There is a local bar/restaurant in my neighborhood and I have made good friendships with my local community there at happy hour.....you don't need to drink. Just have some ice water and leave a tip. Having a good therapist who understands brain washing and PTSD is a life saver. Local community theatre is great. It's fun and you don't need to perform. There is a host of things to do for a production. I am also blessed to have such a wonderful K9 companion who allows me to train with her in doggie school...another good way to meet people. She's good company and would never judge or abandon you.
