I was unequipped for the reality of the cong and much less the world. Symbolically I would go belly up like a dog trying to make peach and got my guts ripped. Don't do that anymore.

What was it like being a JW in the 1960's and 1970's

This organization is not even close to what it was in the 50-60-70s. My mother became one studying the Let God Be Found True. She stopped Christmas etc. My father was so beside himself that he moved us from San Pedro CA to Baudette MN. Epic fail. There was a teeny cong. we met in one of the farm outbuildings and sat on wooden benches. It was freezing. I went to a one room school house. My mother went ahead to tell the school room that I would not be participating in almost anything. Went over like a lead balloon. No friends in school. He couldn't make it on the farm and so he got a job with Boeing in Seattle. Once again my mom went out door to door to explain blah blah blah. result. no friends. At the time I really felt lonely except when I read William Farley's books. My best friends were always my dog or cat. In school I was the weird one that sat in the hallway during parties etc. You couldn't get a break. You had to prepare for each of the 5 meetings then go. There were 2 girls in my cong but they very exclusive. The thing I remember the most is being lonely and hopeless. A lot of shit had to happen b4 I would have my pet Lion and that would take time.....a lot of time. I filled my time with books, fishing, riding a horse, my mom would drop me off at the lake at 8am on her way to work and then pick me

Oh man. These "elders" came with a preset agenda. This whole worship of the GB is really crazy. Just where does the society get their info? Do these GB men sit in a guilded room in an ornate chair with an aluminum hat with antanae sticking up to receive the direct wording from God? What linguistical acrobatics did they use to translate a bible to fit their needs? Self righteous, condescending, little nothings. I wish this family love and contentment. You would build your own presentations door to door or for the school. Now I hear they have I-pads door to door, in the meetings, The headquarters are sold to Trumpos son in law (of all things), the long time and undereducated Bethelites are being layed off and turned out, and the Gov Body have luxurious new quarters on a lake that they can manually control the depth of. For some reason they all seem to wear Rolex watches. Last year they left an invite to the memorial that quoted "Truly I tell you today you will be with me in paradise" no commas. What scriptures did they change in their new bible? Seems like it is very different than when I grew up. They seem to have their own trinity now, the gov body, Jesus and Jehovah. Any thoughts?
