  last saturday afternoon i heard the talk, "put on the lord jesus christ," at the circuit assembly.. one of the overriding questions guiding christians into straight paths was the expected, "what would jesus do?

  " citing various texts, the speaker admonished that we should put up a hard fight for the faith, arming ourselves as soldiers.

  And at the same time they are covering their own scandals over, they are vilifying the Catholics for the very same things, saying this is proof that they are controlled by Satan.

  The worst part is when they DF someone who "knows too much" just to protect themselves from this information being spread. That's about as heartless and legalistic as you can be.

  I've brought these things up to my (elder) father and he hasn't had any valid response other than the old standards like "we have to wait on Jehovah to sort things out". And on the 1975 thing they are in complete denial. They say that it never happened. You can show them the actual watchtower articles where 1975 was with out a doubt "the end", and they will still find a way to block it out like it never happened. The mental gymnastics are quite impressive.

  I don't know if I'll ever forget the doctrine completely. But I'm happy that the judgmental attitude does seem more and more "foreign" to me as time goes on. I am embarrassed about how I was back then, and I'd like to forget those things.

  "no one has love greater than this," said jesus, "that someone should surrender his soul in behalf of his friends.

  It doesn't matter how much evidence we can show them, some people are just to thick to get (or accept) the fact of evolution. It's great to post this information for those with an open mind, but it's a waste of time trying to debate the hard-core creationists with their closed little minds.

  That must be the family of the accused stabber celebrating his acquittal. They got a whole other flavour of crazy going on.

  It doesn't seem like the transfusion refusal was a major factor in the trial since they didn't have enough evidence to convict him of even manslaughter. If there were evidence, then it could have been the difference between manslaughter and murder.

  Shunning inactive JW? I never heard about it before....

  from many of your posts ive noticed some of you, who never were df or da are practicaly shunned by your family memebers or congregation memebers.

  does that really mean they wouldnt talk to you or greet you, if they meet you on the street or if you call them?.

  i live in eastern europe and i never in my life heard about such attitude.

  Our friends started shunning us as soon as we abruptly stopped going to meetings. Nobody asked why. It was bizarre.

  About a month or so after our last meeting we went to one of our best "friends" (of 10 years) house. Up until then, we'd have dinner with each other 1 or 2 times a week at least. But at this visit, a month after just missing meetings, you would have thought we'd grown horns. They were visibly mortified that we kind of invited ourselves into their house (as we always have with each other). They couldn't get rid of us quickly enough. Haven't heard from them in 2 years.

  Other friends in another country have heard rumors about us, and have immediately virtual-shunned us (facebook de-friending). Again, with no contact to confirm the rumors. All rumors are assumed to be true.
