What is it about jws and the spanish inquisition
by jacethespace ina lot of jws myself included to a certain degree seem to develop an attitude of asking prying questions.for the soul purpose of gathering information about things and other people.. this was something that i started to notice just before i left the wt and it became quite annoying, esp when they sometimes grill you about things that you dont want to talk about or at least not at that time, like personal problems.it can become so iritatating and makes you feel like telling them to mind their own buisness and give the spanish inquisition a break.. what causes this mentality?
cause at times i noticed that this behavour esp to outsiders of the tower is not always friendly and seems quite sinister..

At what point did you stop being an idiot?
by Hiddenwindow inwere you always an open-minded jw?
did you ever think that another brother was an apostate because he asked a simple logical question?
the latter, of course, is the most natural reaction among most jws.

Quit your job and go sell ice cream
by Hiddenwindow indid anyone see the information on a recent watchtower study article (w-07 0/01, p. 30, 16) in which a witness who quitted his job and started selling ice cream on the streets in order to have more time to preach, is presented as a good example?
i found it extremely offensive and asked myself: are they really serious or is this joke?
but the worst part is that no one else in the hall seemed to find it offensive, with the exception of a ministerial servant who privately told me it was an act of disrespect on the part of the society.

Is Being A Jehovah's Witness a Mental Disorder?
by Amber Rose infrequently i have seen the subject of borderlind personallity disorder mentioned on this board.
many people here feel that friends or relatives display many of the charactaristics of the disorder.
people with histories of abuse seem to be drawn to this religion.

Conspiracy against the Watchtower
by Hiddenwindow inhere is one question that has been bothering me for quite some time.
do you think a revolution, so to speak, within the organization is possible?
in other words, can any conspiracy against the watchtower succeed?

Sinning against the Holy Spirit - Unforgivable? How does one commit it?
by Shawn10538 ini seem to remember a doctrine that says that the only sin that is unforgivable is a sin against the holy spirit.
is apostasy a sin against the holy spirit?

Beliefs, Honesty
by Hiddenwindow innot too long ago, i heard a district overseer say, at a circuit assembly, something astonishing; that he would continue to be a jehovahs witness even if it was proven to him that god does not exist.
his point was the organization and its moral standards protect people from a lot of trouble and that this by itself is very positive aspect.
i could not forget such a statement and, just as an exercise, started to pose the following scenario to some of my friends, including several ministerial servants an one elder: if you some how determine that this is not the truth, would you continue to be a witness?

Elder for 30 years, lost privelages due to WT Education policy
by justhuman inthis is a really good one.
an elder who was serving for more than 30 years, faithfull to the organization at all means, has lost his privelage due to the wt education policy.
the reason was that he allowed his son to study at the university.
