Actually I was pretty firm about my desicion. No ifs and or buts about it..So they respected my desicion from the beginning. We just don't talk about Jw things when we are together.

Fading From the Witnesses- How Hard Did Your Family Try to Bring You Back?
by flipper ini have been a fader now for 4 years , and at this point my witness family pretty much leaves me alone in that they don't try to push their beliefs on me anymore !
at first they did, the first 6 months or so.
my daughters showed me a video of korah talking against aaron, etc.

Have You Divorced And/Or Remarried- What Did You Learn From It ?
by flipper inin seeing a lot of posters threads , i feel i see many people who have been divorced at one time , and either have remarried or have stayed single .
i totally understand those who choose to stay single, as i was single for 6 years before i got married again !
as experts say, next to death it's one of the hardest experiences you'll go through !

I guess I learned basically the same as sweetstuff....don't settle. And to trust your gut instinct more. I don't know if I'll ever remarry but I'm enjoying being single for now. I had been married for so long with someone who barely made the effort to make a marraige work, I forgot what a "healthy- relationship was like.
One thing I will never do again is have a vertical relationship like the Jw's encourage. I should have as much control and power in the desicions made as my partner. I also learned that once you lose respect for your partner it's all downhill from there. But believe it or not I'm glad that I ended the marraige at the age I am now, 32 because if I had been younger I would have probably made the same mistakes over again.

As a mother, the pedophile cases have been really bad. Even the current policy is ridiculous. I think all families should be warned if there is a pedophile in their midst.

The enemy of a GOOD LIFE now: Jehovah's Witnesses' idea of the PERFECT
by Terry inthe connection between thinking and acting; belief and behavior is a vital link; mostly because what we do constitutes our life moment to moment.. we are caught in a flowing rush we cannot escape as though tossed into a raging river.
i am talking about your life.
you cannot escape time and the inexorable movement of events around you.

I couldn't agree with you more....I feel so sad when I hear JW's undergoing problems lamenting to themselves and shaking their heads saying "we just need the paradise to be here so much.."
The journey is the reward..just my two cents

study at Cambridge
by John Doe ini just attended a meeting this morning recruiting law students to study for six weeks at cambridge during the summer of '08.
the price is somewhere around $5,000, which includes tuition, room and board, and excursions.
boy, sure sounds tempting right now.

The legality of shunning and my unique circumstance...
by drew sagan ini have always had a question as regards to the legality of shunning.
i know that under the laws of this country (usa) the witnesses right to have this practice has been granted to them by the law.
wikipedia mentions an important court case that occured: in june 1987, the united states court of appeals for the 9th circuit upheld the witnesses' right to disfellowship those who fail to live by the group's standards and doctrines.

I also was thinking about the legal end of cases like this. I'm actually trying to consult with a friend who is a lawyer about being a minor and committing. But the laws here work different than in the States. Over there it's based on precedents. Here it's based on Laws. Does that make sense??? So find out on your end and I'll ask on my end....I think it's outrageous underage minors are coerced into commiting into any religion.
