I can't find the scripture right now but it seems Jesus said to his followers, I came to set you free why do you enslave youselves again (something to that effect.) If he were here today he would be insulted. Also paul said in Gal. 5:1 not to be entangled with the yoke of bondage. Some one here has probably gone in to this in detail. Jws are enslaved to the society there is no other way to look at. I know that is the way I felt.

As predicted, no loosening of the reins . . .
by AuldSoul inwell, the new governing body is circling the doctrinal wagons and funneling information through fewer and fewer access points.
there is no loosening of the reins.
i believe those who are awaiting mainstreaming from the organization are waiting in vain.

Is the Tower of fear and deception really starting to crumble ?
by Homerovah the Almighty inthere has been some dramatic changes going on recently with the jws as everyone knows , i can only speculate this is due to the once well hidden secrets.
that have been hidden so well from the eyes of the faithful followers, the overwhelming information on the inter-net may be the cause of this.. perhaps the power and arrogance that the gb held for so many years is indeed starting to weaken.. i'm actually seeing the faith weakening within my own family members that have been involved with the organization for decades.. they do seem to be down sizing a lot in their operations, wouldn't it be surprisingly ironic if " the truth " was the thing that really was to bring down their structured lies.. well we can only wish, right !

The problem the society or any religion is that Jesus told the apostles in matt 24 that their generation would not pass away untill all these things take place. Within 40 years later it did with the destruction of Jeruslem. The society wants a second fullfillment of this 2000 years later. Other religions say it was never fullfilled. Entire books have been written on why it is to happen later. Every thing that has happened in the past 2000 years have been applied to those predictions but none of them up to now have happened.
The promise to the apostles was fullfilled in a short time. The anointed , according to the new light , have been waiting 2000 years for the end, modern jws have been waiting over 100 years. Even stupid people will only wait for so long. I think that wait is what will kill the organization.
The reason the catholics lasted so long is because they tell their flock that as soon as you die you go to heaven. No need to wait.

Witnesses are not and should not be judgmental?
by easyreader1970 infirstly, forgive me for not being able to quote the article directly.
i noticed it yesterday while sitting in the sunday indoctrination session.
the article for next weeks watchtower study talks about viewing other people as jehovah views them.

That is all the jws do is judge. When they walk away from a door where no one wants to listen to them , they say that person is going to die at armegedon. If you don't think like us, you are going to die. And they in particular judge one another. I you don't go to all the meetings you are going to die, if you don't go out in service regularly you are going to die. If you are doing this or not doing that you are going to die. I was going to say , you could write a book on what you can die for, but I woke up and realized they have already wrote hundreds of books on what you can die for.

The End of Circuit Overseers
by scotsman inis indeed apparently nigh as another poster predicted along with the end of the weekly bs.
not sure when this should take place but i'm reliably informed by a family member that one of the uk's overseers was talking about it fairly recently.
reduced to weekend visits by an outside but local elder instead.. i have no further info..

Why wouldn't they drop the co? The only thing they accomplish when they come to the congregation is having all the jws be at their very best, and as soon as he is gone they go right back to the way they were. That is spending money for nothing. I really think something along the lines of what some here have said, some type of arrangement where a person visits or inspects so to speak each congregation on a very regular schedule. Why have the jws at their best only once or twice a year. It would be much better if you beat your slaves in person all the time. When the cat is away the mice will play. What ever the society does, believe me it will be to have more control over the flock not less.

I looked up 'sheep and goats ' on the search feature, just to remind myself what has been said. The society kind of shot its self in the foot with the new understanding of the sheep and goats back in 1995. They sort of made theirselves of no consequence, and I wondered how they were going to get out of that. Now they have come up with this crap. If jws aren't the most confused people on earth by now it would amaze me. I bet not one jw could explain the societys preaching doctrine up to now and including this new information.
I personaly hope the society keeps this up, because I think eventually they will have all the jws running around blathering like idiots, on wait they already are.

Where Do JWs Get Their Sense of Legitimacy?
by Cold Steel inin reading jw literature over the years and talking to missionaries, i've often read and heard the term "manmade religion" applied to other christian churches.
yet when i study the history, the church seems to have been built on a publishing company.
no revelations or visions, no voices from heaven, no light or glory, no visitationsyet the jehovah's witnesses proclaim that they're the only "true" religion.

I know one of these days they will probably kick me out, but sometimes I just can't keep my mouth shut. I have brought up several times with my wife, reletives, and elders, where does the society get their authority from the scriptures. It is always the faithfull and discrete slave. My answer has always been that this is not only speculation , but a very weird speculation. I even give them an out with the 1919 thing when Jesus supposedly chose them. In my experiences I can never get a jw to try to explain the reasoning for this ( example in the revelation book with the dates and assemblies etc.) I finally realized that they don't even believe in this crap. For one thing it is so convuluted that no one can explain it without an outline and that doesn't even work because they have changed it so much.
It finally accured to me years ago that the society just say they are gods chosen organization. I challenge any jw to explain with the scriptures their authority. I can't be done.

watchtowers at my threrapist's office
by loosie inwhen i go to my threrapist's office, while waiting in the waiting room, i look for wts and awakes.
when i find them i write on them a website either this one or silent lambs or i just write "this group is a cult" across the front of it.. one visit i found like 12 wts.
i didn't have time to scribble a note on all of them before my therapist called me in.. well this week.

I have been at the doctors office and dentist office a lot lately and kept an eye on the awake and watchtower magazines placed there . I very seldom see anyone pick one up and the rare times that they do they place them right back . If you think about it without the societys hype, the magazines speak for themselves. They are really weird. I have been to the doors with them thousands of times and just asked the people if they would just like to have them for free, 99.99999% of the time they say no and I think most jws would say the same. When people don't even take things for free it usually means they are worthless.

An Interesting YouTube debate I had with a JW
by B_Deserter inso most of you have probably seen my youtube video what you should know about jehovah's witnesses, which can be found here.
naturally, this draws quite a negative response from the jw community, but this particular person decided to send me a personal message.. you wanna talk smack about witnesses or anyone in general you better have your facts straight.
everything you said is taken almost enitrly out of context to our true practices.

Long list= Brothers who have ripped you off! $$$ has this happened to you?
by Witness 007 in1. the elder i was in a bissness with decided a hand shake was not a contract, and paid me $500 dollars instead of the $3,000 he should have....i felt so stupid, but quit with him and treated him like a disfellowshiped person since....also he would pay me half a days wage when i worked from 8am till 3pm ???????
when told about this he said sorry but "couldn't work out how to re-emburse the lost hours.".

In my younger years I had more than my share of jws ways of doing buisness. They are always trying to get something for nothing. My favorite is they try to invite you over for dinner in exchange for doing some work on their home. Now when they try that I laugh at them and tell them I will figure up just how many meals that would take. They are always wanting to borrow things. Always trying to sell you crap. I found that if a jw calls you out of the clear blue they want something. What buisness I did with them I always got screwed over. They are the worse for trying to beat the irs. They will try to beat you out of your wages. That is why they like to hire their own kind. All of my experiences may just be mine, but I have heard this for years and now I hear it lot on this site.
My rule now for the past 30 years is that I do not do buisness with witnesses. I broke my rule a few years ago with and elder friend of mine. He is the most honest person I have ever met in the organization which I think makes him very rare. I wrote up an iron clad contract, and we sat down and went over every detail . Never had one problem with him.
What is it about most jws that they think all other jws owe them everything and should do everything for nothing. I have never been able to do that to anyone.

"Even if it isn't true" - how many of you heard this one recently?
by hamsterbait ini remember first hearing it after the generation change of 95.. a sister answered up at the wt and said "even if armageddon isn't coming, its still the best way to live.".
i have heard others say: "even if it isn't true, it's still the best way of life.".
my mother said it a few weeks ago!

They should make next years text to read, "It may not be the truth , but isn"t it a wonderful way to live." No scripture needed.
