LMAO so a woman should always be in subjection but it's SATANIC to show respect to her.

Is it proper for men to tip their hats to women?
by ThomasCovenant inapologies if you all have read this before.. watchtower 1952 15th april pages 254-256. it is the woman that is commanded to show respect and recognition of the mans position of headship, and women who rebel at it are not so much rebelling against men as they are against god.gen.

Vinyl recordings of Rutherford etc
by veen inso i remember my grandmother having these old vinyl recordings with the dude ranting away.
do you think it would be worth me trying to getting hold of them, or are they already available in the public domain.
i wish i was a hardcore anti jw when i was younger 'cos i would listen to those beauties now, at the time i thought they were just boring.

My dad has quite a few - some got broken or were very badly scratched so he chopped the middles out and uses those bits as coasters! best use they could be put to in my opinion.

YOUR TYPE OF INTELLIGENCE..............
by fifi40 inhoward gardner, a professor of education at harvard university, is renowned for laying out the theory of multiple intelligences (mi), which argues that the customary views of intelligence are too narrow.
whilst traditional iq tests measure verbal and mathematical skills, mi theory maintains that humans have multiple intelligences.. included in these are spatial, musical, bodily-kinesthetic (movement), interpersonal skills, intrapersonal and naturalist (understanding and classifying objects in nature).
so whilst some may not be to 'hot' on mathematics they may be great musicians or wonderful at understanding human beings.

I'm not really very intelligent - took me ages to get out the "troof", but then didn't most of us, so I don't feel too bad about that. I've yet to discover my talent. I don't have enough commitment to see things through to be able to discover it in the first place!

JW's versus RCC on child abuse
by TooBad TooSad init really is good news that the news of the recent settlement on the child abuse cases is coming out.
bad news is that probably 99% of the witnesses will not believe it or put a different spin on it.
the witnesses are.

I hear you, as someone who was abused and who's sister knew about it and who's friends knew about it and yet I am the one who is shunned. They cannot/will not admit that there is a problem. When I was in I thought it was not a problem and that I was an exception to the rule in the way my case was dealt with.

I don't know about trying to discuss something without losing your temper. but I can't ever argue my side of an argument that I feel strongly about without crying which amounts to the same kind of thing - detracting from your well made points.
Maybe if you tried to discuss it while out somewhere like a restaurant? Somewhere where you are likely to maintain an expected standard of behaviour? I prefer to go to a pub and sit in a corner to discuss things that may become emotionally charged because it forces me to keep control.
Also make sure that you know exactly what points you want to make before going, makes you sound more rational.

Would you really want to live forever
by darth frosty ini just finished reading this book called the alchemist.
it is a very compelling story about following your dreams.
what i found most intriguing about the book is the depth of spirituality it brought out in me.

Darth Frosty,
I have a question. I really cannot see clearly the tiny pictures people have with their names. Is that an extemely large banana you have in your hand?
lol quandry - i nearly wet myself - get yourself some glasses! roflmao
anyhow back to topic - yes i would like to live forever, just not the jw way. just because you may live forever doesn't mean you also shouldn't live for today.

Maybe describe what you saw in Iraq to them - get their response - and then show them what they believe...?
Did you also know that if a child says s/he was sexually abused by someone in the congregation but the person denies it and there is no witness (we all know that a molester likes people to watch) then they take no action?

What can I possibly do..........
by passive suicide ini am at a loss.
i've finally realized what my heart has been questioning for many years...'the truth', quite possibly/probably...is not.

Welcome Passive Suicide. That's what I thought I was doing when I first considered leaving JW's, committing passive suicide, because God was going to kill me at Armageddon. But do you really want to serve a god that says - "live this way or I will kill you"...?
There are a few on this forum who are in your position - living with a believing mate and knowing that one day their own children may shun them.
What you have to do is hard, feeling your way with your gut, I assume you love your wife and you don't want to alienate her or your children. There is alot of advice on this forum, make use of people experiences. You have a hard road ahead of you but beyond is a freedom that is worth having, I personally have never been happier.
