1914 - Is this literature still current ?
by AlphaOmega inthis is strange, i read that in 1995 they did away with the "generation" teaching, yet the official watchtower website still says this, over 12 years later !.
thus, all the features of the last days must take place within the lifetime of one generation, the generation of 1914. so some people who were alive in 1914 will still be alive when this system comes to its end.
that generation of people is now very advanced in years, indicating that there is not much time left before god brings this present system of things to an end.. http://www.watchtower.org/library/pr/article_07.htm.

Any lawyers here - re 2nd Baptism question.
by AlphaOmega injust a thought.... does the 2nd baptism question, "do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of jehovahs witnesses in association with gods spirit-directed organization?
" enter the candidates into a legally binding contract?.
this is a verbal declaration to abide by the "corporation rules" (disfellowshipping etc) said infront of witnesses (no pun intended).. could it be that this is why this question was added?

"Minor" Doctrines - A Loyalty Test ?
by AlphaOmega init's just occured to me that jws go "all out" to show that they are different from "christendom".. obviously they say this because they claim "to be in the truth", but could it be that these differences, these doctrines, make it easy to spot one who is doubting the organisation?.
could it be that by displaying "fruits of faith" that differ from jw doctrine, it is the only way that the gb / elders / whoever have of being able to see into the hearts and minds of the rank and file jws?.
could it be that : having a beard, not accepting the torture state thing, listening to certain music, reading certain literature, not attending so many meetings, not putting enough hours on the record card etc etc are just ways to see who is conforming ?.

Follow "The Christ" - New Light Needed ???
by AlphaOmega ini found an article recently that uses the phrase "apparantly not" - that usually points to a change in teaching !!
it seems to be wt speak for "we were wrong, now believe this...".
thanks to blondie for digging out the old publications that taught that "the christ" was actually a composite term that consisted of (guess who) the anointed !

Can YOU identify this photo (1914 Rapture?)
by AlphaOmega ini need help identifying the source of this photo, which purports to show the watchtower crowd going up to the top of the mount of olives in 1914 awaiting the rapture.. .
i would like to show this photo to several jws along with the article in the october 8 1968 awake, which says.... true, there have been those in times past who predicted an end to the world, even announcing a specific date.
some have gathered groups of people with them and fled to the hills or withdrawn into their houses waiting for the end.yet nothing happened.
