  JAYDEE- Thanks for posting this. Really disgusting the abuse this poor woman had to experience. She is very courageous to tell her story and advise other abuse victims to go to the police. It's totally obvious that her story was difficult to tell for her as she came close to breaking down a couple times while sharing it. I hope other abuse victims will gain courage to come forward like her and expose this criminal organization.

  FISHERMAN- Your not accepting this woman's story is just another proof of insensitivity and lack of compassion that many JW's were indoctrinated with. " A sad story, but that is all it is. " ????? Come on now. How would YOU have liked being sexually abused yourself as a child growing up ? Do you think what this lady went through was inconsequential ? And who gives a damn if you believe it or not ? Who died and made you king ? Your lack of sensitivity IS an insult to other victims of sexual or violent child abuse. It's insensitive people like you that always come on here defending the WT Society and their criminal ways. Get a grip

  the jehovah’s witnesses settled a lawsuit this week brought by a pennsylvania woman who says the religion’s leaders covered up sexual abuse she suffered as a teenager.. the settlement came five days into a trial in which stephanie fessler, a former jehovah’s witness, claimed the religion’s parent corporation violated pennsylvania’s child abuse reporting laws by instructing local leaders – known as elders – not to report her allegations to police.. according to fessler, a middle-aged jehovah’s witness woman, terry monheim, began sexually abusing her when she was 14. at 15, fessler disclosed the abuse to her parents.

  It's what Eden One stated, " If the plaintiff didn't have a case, the Watchtower wouldn't make a settlement. " End of story. Pretty simple. Some pontificators on the thread try to make it more complicated than it is in order to muddy the waters of who is responsible.

  Bottom line is this : Since the WT Society is raking in millions $$$ right now from sales of real estate properties and consolidating kingdom halls across the planet- naturally these funds are going to be used in part to settle thousands of child abuse lawsuits around the world out of court with accompanying gag orders on the victims to make sure the Internet or any news media online or via television won't air it that much to " preserve " the alleged " reputation " of the WT Society to the general public and it's own members. WT leaders don't want to be on the mainstream news every night about child abuse - so they'll take whatever financial maneuvers possible to avoid that scenario. Pretty twisted- but accurate. They don't want hundreds or thousands of Candace Conti type fires to have to put out in the mainstream media. That's a criminal organization in action to preserve it's 138 years worth of delusion of themselves AND the public

  young elder(mid-thirties) in my congregation stepped down last night.

  nicest guy, with two lovely kids, a great supportive wife.. it got to be too much, as the other elders are practically useless, let him do all the hard work, while they did all the "important" stuff.

  literally ran him ragged.. he's still in good standing, gave the final prayer.

  Nice to hear that another elder quit being an elder. The WT Society burns these guys out as slaves to the maximum and doesn't really care HOW burned out they get - as long as they " obey " and put WT functions first. There is zero empathy shown these guys from the WT leaders. One reason I NEVER became an elder- I was not a brown noser and I didn't play politics or kiss up to anybody- I still don't. I hope more of these guys step down

  I agree with Angharad - Across the Universe was fantastic . The Wall by Pink Floyd was great too- all the songs off of the album " The Wall " done in the movie. I just purchased the Lazarus CD done by musicians as a musical of David Bowie's music which isn't a movie, but a musical done on audio CD which was performed in New York- outstanding renditions of David Bowie's songs

  where a few of us here on the forum live is in an emergency situation.

  the main spillway on oroville dam -- the tallest dam in the usa -- is damaged.

  the emergency spillway, never used before in the 48 years the dam has operated, is eroding.. major confusion and panic occurred when the order went out sunday, late afternoon: this is not a drill!.

  this comes to mind as trump has been throwing the word "god" around.

  there are a lot of outwardly religious people in this government.. benjamin franklin: "the way to see faith is to shut the eye of reason.".

  Good thread CoCo, thanks for posting. I saw in the news that in our higher elevation area where we live hundreds of people who evacuated the lower areas are staying in our town , they even opened the fairgrounds up to put people up.

  In the local news tonight they explained that in order to drop the pressure off of the emergency spillway - water officials increased the flows over the spillway that busted to 120,000 cubic feet per second in order to lower the lake by 50 feet- which will take pressure off the emergency spillway hill where some deep holes were. The broadcasters stated that so far the lake dropped about 7 feet, and they think within 5 days they will lower the lake level 50 feet. Of course- this sends a hell of a lot more water down the Feather river towards Oroville ( the town just below the dam ) - however the weather forecaster stated the river levels are not going up too much- so far from the increased water flow.

  We have rain forecast for this weekend - but not the warm kind of rain like last week which melted a lot of snow at 8,000 feet causing flooding- the snow level is expected to be 5,000 feet which will help slow down some of that deluge of water coming down our Sierra canyons and rivers into Lake Oroville and other reservoirs. I just hope the Oroville dam officials and California Water resource folks can get this thing stabilized so 180,000 people can go back to their homes hopefully sometime soon. However - officials won't do that until they get the emergency spillway stabilized and the other water flows at a safe level to avoid flooding. It's like walking a freaking tightrope right now taking it a day at a time for these folks on lower ground. As Coco said, he and I are much higher up away from any danger.   i was baptized in 1979 and attended one of the lancaster ohio congregations.

  realizing i was gay, i left and after being in the columbus gay community for 6 months, decided bar hopping and cruising was not my cup o' tea.i decided to return in late '90 and was reinstated in '91.
