SILENTBUDDHA- Well I guess old Lyman was prejudiced ! That's really sick. I'm so sorry to read that Ronnie Klineman experienced this awful treatment. So obviously Lyman wasn't as funny as I thought. Another human with prejudiced attitudes. Very sad. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

SILENTBUDDHA-What a creepy video, thanks for sharing ! lol.
I know some EX-JWs who knew Lyman Swingle very well. The poster named Farkel who died about 4 years ago used to date Lyman Swingles daughter years ago ! LOL. I had lunch with Farkel several times before he died. He said Lyman Swingle probably had the best sense of humor of the GB way back then and actually at times would think outside of the GB box. Perhaps that explains in part why he would show up at breakfast in a kimono. LOL. Real comedian I heard. Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

How do you feel you have progressed ?
by stuckinarut2 inin the months or years since leaving the organization, how do you think you have progressed as a person?.
(or if you have regressed too i guess?).

STUCKINARUT- Great thread, thanks for posting - and thanks for asking !
Like Desirous of Change and his wife- I feel a whole lot better on Saturday & Sunday mornings these last 15 years that I've been out of the JW cult. I have a lot more time to pursue interests and hobbies like writing songs, playing guitar, Mrs. Flipper and I have a great kick ass vegetable garden growing, about 1200 sq.ft garden with tomatoes, squash, potatoes, blueberries, raspberries, peppers, basil, green beans, peach tree, artichokes, plum tree, and pear tree. Plus lots of cool flowers and herbs. We really enjoy it.
As a person I've grown in that I have a much better sense of self now. My self esteem has risen very much since not being browbeaten with how " sinful " I'm supposed to feel all the time ! lol. I actually don't ever have any feelings of guilt anymore and I've lost quite a bit of the fear I used to have as a JW. Nothing much scares me anymore. I can stand up to anybody at any level and show respect , and if I don't get that back in return, well- that's THEIR problem not mine.
I don't waste my time on fruitless relationships anymore that bring psychological vampires into my life who only have selfish interests at heart and not my interests at heart. The quality of my friendships has blossomed and the true friends I have now- they know that I care as much about them as they do for me. I never had those equal types of friendships in the JW cult, friendships were always conditional on me performing WT functions. When we stop doing WT functions, we lose all the fake friends we had ! lol.
Life is a beautiful journey, and I've learned to stop and smell every rose along the way while on that journey ! HI have a lovely wife, a fantastic son & daughter in law that I'm close to , and life is wonderful in the big picture. Of course I miss my JW daughters and it hurts they shun me and are still in the cult, but hope burns eternal that it will change someday. Take care, Peace out. Mr. Flipper

Jehovah's Witnesses: shame and domination
by john.prestor ini want to suggest something that i've been ruminating on for a while now.
that involves the possibility that when jehovah's witnesses look for "sheep-like ones" what they're actually looking for is this: those who will allow themselves to be dominated (get rid of things that god "hates," accept the movement's beliefs without protest, not check into the movement's history) and those who are willing to be shamed (letting jehovah's witnesses into their homes when doing so is looked down upon in secular society, talking with them on the street when everyone else avoids them).. i say this because from what i observed at the kingdom halls i attended in the course of gathering data for my research i saw:.
-frequent shaming: jehovah's witnesses must do more to be acceptable to god, they are "good for nothing slaves," they are spared through armageddon by jehovah's "undeserved kindness," etc.

Good thread. All mind control cults like the JW's and WT Society use fear and guilt to shame their members and give them extremely low self esteem whereby JW's or other cult members are put down for ANY personal accomplishments that are not benefiting the WT organization or cult itself. It's criminal how these organizations steal away any self worth in individuals. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Spiritual "Protection" - a Menace on Psychological Development
by Wake Me Up Before You Jo-Ho innot quite a week ago, @lost in the fog created a thread entitled: do you have this illness?.
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5187824140681216/do-you-have-this-illness.
in my year of being on this forum, i have browsed many a disillusioned thread of ex-jehovah’s witnesses expressing similar symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder when detailing their awakening - my own story included.

WAKE ME- Extremely great thread ! Probably one of the best, if not THE best thread written all year on this board.
I totally agree with you. WT Society tried to control and monitor EVERYTHING JW's did, experienced and thought 24 / 7. We were never allowed to develop critical thinking ability because it was stolen away from our brain's neurotransmitters, whereby those transmitters only transmitted JW & WT thoughts. And as has been mentioned it was through the use of fear and guilt that the WT Society was able to do this and keep us really like stunted emotional 8 year old's mentally in our lives in the cult.
And you're right that in the real world and real life - nothing is easy. We need to use our minds in a critical thinking manner if we are to be successful and happiness comes to us once we take responsibility for our own actions and we gain our freedom of mind and movement back ourselves instead of being puppets or robots for the WT Society.
Freedom of mind & movement is what I treasure the most now in my 15 years out of the JW cult. I'm really happy that I've pursued many interests I never would have been able to pursue trapped inside the JW cult. Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

TOTALLY ADD & REOPENED MIND- I am so happy for you guys that you have your son back ! That is outstanding news ! Been busy and missed this thread until this morning. This is an absolutely beautiful thing that's happened in your life !
Give that son of yours a hug for me and Mrs. Flipper and tell him there are many out here that understand not only what he went through in exiting, but we understand the whole dynamic of what happens in a family during these situations. This gives me hope that one day one or both of my daughters might eventually wake up to TTATT. At least I have a close relationship with my ex-JW son as well. I am so thrilled you both got your son back ! I will clink my glass in a toast to your family being together again tonight ! Take care buddy, we will talk soon. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Do You Think Many Jehovah’s Witnesses Truly Believe?
by minimus ini did for many years even if i had doubts that i would put on the back burner.
but i thought the majority of witnesses believed, even if they were “weak” in the faith.. obviously, we have elders , pioneers and ministerial servants that are here and they are not true believers.. do you think many jws simply do not believe what they are preaching?
?.

This > What Orphan Crow said , " They will sell their family, their friends and their soul for a chance at that Promise . "
So instead of selling their souls to an imaginary " Satan " or " Devil " - Jehovah's Witnesses sell their soul to the WT Society and the REAL Devils that are running that organization. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

If the way my still in JW family behaves totally hardcore is any indication, I'd say about 70 to 75 % still believe in the WT illusion. Any conversations I've had on the street with JW's at carts or random places when they try to preach at me- they always still seem totally deluded and under mind control. They have no critical thinking ability whatsoever. Like their brain neurotransmitters have been singed only to view things one way- the JW way. Peace out, Mr. Flipper
