Was it worth it?
by John Aquila infor those of you who left family and friends and had to start over from scratch just to get out of the organization, was it worth it?.

Yes. It was SO worth it. To gain freedom of mind and to NOT be told what to believe or not believe in is priceless. I would make the same decision today as I did 12 years ago to just walk away from it cold turkey. And from this vantage point in my life as an inactive ex-JW who is not DFed- I can still have hope to eventually get one or both of my adult daughters out of the JW cult - with time and patience. I have all the time in the world now to do it right , correctly, and with patience -

My Real Calling / Mission In Life Is Here on J-W.com
by smiddy insometime during or after my conversion to jehovah witnesses 55 years ago , i felt it was my calling , duty , mission , to preach the word , and witness to as many people as i could about the watchtower`s interpretation of the bible that i believed was the truth.. and may i presume i am not alone there .i feel many if not all would have had similar thoughts.. without being presumptuous i think i have found my real calling in life , in doing what little i can to add my 2 cents worth in exposing this religion for what a fraud it actually is ,especially to the newbies , because most of us here have already found ttatt .. so witnessing to the truth about jehovah`s witnesses on this board , gives me much more pleasure than i ever had witnessing for the watchtower organization.
and this site / board has enabled me to do that , thank you simon ,ang, and company.. smiddy.

SMIDDY- I agree with you. It's one of the many missions in life that I'm on as well. To wake people the hell up ! I have a lot of interests I'm actively involved with in my life- but I feel that not only myself- but MANY of us here can and have made an impact on people's lives by exposing the real TTATT on Simon's board here. People have exited the dangerous mind control cult Jehovah's Witnesses once they start reading real information exposing WT Society injustices . We can all have a part in that if we desire to. I feel we all have accomplished more here on this board than we ever did wasting time knocking on doors telling people about a fantasy " paradise " that doesn't exist. LOL -

"We can't even talk with you anymore! You react very abruptly"
by stuckinarut2 inso that was the line used by an elder the other day to me!.
he implied that i react badly when spoken to by the elders.. i corrected him and said: "no, i'm always happy to have a conversation.
but what you seem to be implying is that unless i sit and accept and take everything you say, then i am being defensive?

STUCKINARUT- I think you are doing a very good job based on your situation. There is no " one way " to exit this JW cult. Some of us exited " cold turkey " stopped immediately like I did - and I imagine it's part of what what led to it taking years and years for me to see my 28 year old daughter again . That being said I have no regrets for stopping that way as my mind has been a lot more clear these last 12 years without WT indoctrination being pounded into my brain from the platform.
But some folks, perhaps like yourself who still HAVE believing JW spouses may have to take it slower and more gradual in exiting the cult or their marriages will go down the tubes in a very fast way. You are doing a good job Stuckinarut . You have the right and freedom of mind to voice your opinions to elders- I just suggest that you make sure that the elders don't corner your wife in a back room trying to pit her against you without you knowing. THAT is a scenario that has played out over the years in many of these incidents of one or the other marriage mate trying to escape the cult. So just keep your eyes open. You'll do fine. Stay smart like you are, tell your wife that you love her and in time your unconditional love to her will triumph over this criminal organization. Hang in there, we are here as a support to you, O.K. ? Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Is going clear worth watching?
by purrpurr ini've been trying to wade through all two and a half hours of going clear.
thus far it seems to not criticize scientology to much?.
thoughts?
-
flipper
PURRPURR- Are you sure that you watched the same " Going Clear " that I or many others watched ? It doesn't criticize Scientology ? I thought it totally exposed Scientology as it told of the leader David Miscavige's beatings of members and how he sent goons out to " discipline " and isolate Scientology members who " misbehaved ". Like the woman who had to scrub toilet seats with a toothbrush as discipline, or the man who had to mop restroom floors with his tongue.
Is it worth watching ? Hell yes it's worth watching as it exposes the workings of a dangerous mind control cult ! There are many high level actors and actresses on " Going Clear " who escaped Scientology and they explain how they and others were abused. I don't think the program went " light " on Scientology at all ! I think that maybe you need to watch the program again to see what you might have missed

Govening Body and JWN
by John Aquila indo you think any members of the governing body visit this site-jwn regularly?.
how about the heavies in the organization, like the writers, lawyers, and other who work at headquarters?.
for all we know john aquila could be a member of the gb..

Some upper level ex scientology people said that there was always a team monitoring oppositional (defector) websites. Some of the monitors always ended up defecting but the organization figured losing a few was well worth the information they got. The monitors themselves are disposable - I guess their salvation isn't all that important to the grand poobahs....
Read up on scientology and you'll see that they are very similar to the watchtower. They are kind of like JWs on steroids and methamphetamines.

Rutherford, Knorr or Franz - Who has the most influence on doctrine & process now?
by konceptual99 inso, i was thinking - who of the above still has the most influence on current wts doctrine and dogma?.
rutherford obviously created the smokescreen around 1914/607 but overall his work has been superseded i would suggest.. knorr created the various schools and they or their offspring still live on.
wasn't it during his tenure that all the blood doctrine, types/anti types (now chucked away of course), transplants etc came along?

Actually- I think NONE of those guys you mentioned - has any hold anymore on what this current GB decides or does. Rutherford, Knorr, and Franz are all deceased and are considered " old or deceased " light by this current GB of Anthony Morris III, Stephen Lett, and the other current hooligans.
I mean look at how MUCH has changed in the last 5 or so years since the " old guard " GB died. They did away with home Book Study arrangements, put in ATM contribution machines at District Conventions, They totally changed the " generation " teaching to an overlapping generation of " two or multiple " generations before the alleged " Armageddon " comes. They've started JW.org which is an absolute clamoring for power through greed with Stephen Lett beckoning rank & file JW's for money. Lett came on defending their policies regarding child abuse claiming that ex-JW's are lying when they say the WT leaders protect pedophiles calling it " ridiculous ". They've taken over complete ownership of the Kingdom Halls away from local jurisdictions of congregation members. They even play Sparlock cartoons and release cartoons as District Convention releases in order to further manipulate and mind control the Witnesses.
Actually- I feel these current Governing Body members are even MORE audacious and have more gall than the old guard in being arrogant, self promoting, and narcissistic claiming to be God's " special agents ". I mean- look at it- WT leaders even refused to hand over child abuse information to the courts as requested and received a 13.5 million $$$$$ lawsuit fine slapped against them for refusing to cooperate with the courts of the land. I mean- how arrogant or how low will these current batch of GB members go ? I think there is NO level of depth these depraved monsters will not go to - in order to keep the financial wheels of this 136 year old WT Society organizational scam going. They have no conscience. The organization and it's financial shareholders are run by sociopathic liars and con men. Enough said

Yeah, it's like WT Society legal team and leaders can't go quietly into the night and pay Conti the 1 or 2 million they owe her. What bastards. They just cannot accept defeat or being made to even appear as if they were negligent or in the wrong. It's a narcissistic and arrogant view of " we don't recognize the world's view or Caesar's courts judgments towards us " - so they are out to prove still that WT leaders are above the laws of the land. Truly disgusting. Whatever happened to Romans 13: 1,2 where God put the superior authorities in place to carry out justice ? And anybody fighting the superior authorities is found to be fighting against " God " himself ? Guess WT leaders forgot about THAT scripture. Oh I forgot- GB recognizes itself as " God " so I guess the scripture doesn't apply. Jesus Christ. Peace out, Mr. Flipper -

The Truth vs Theories
by freemindfade ini had a thought today, would so many people sign the witness version of the billion year contract if instead of calling everything (even the religion) "the truth", they were more like science and called it "theories".
it's funny because "the truth" changes all the time, where as really the truth does not.
in science you say something is a theory it can change and become more accurate (new light), .
-
flipper
FREEMINDFADE- Good thread topic my friend. The problem that we face when discussing the " truth " versus the " theory " equation regarding religion is that when our society we live in throws into the mix RELIGION - people get very insecure and look at religion as a " sacred cow " of sorts where they want answers to all their life's situations and problems. AND they want an answer as to the " meaning " of life- the general public , and people like JW's included who aren't ready to accept the " theory " within their belief systems because they feel that EVERYTHING has to have an explanation in life. They cannot accept that there are certain things in life that we really just do NOT know about. Like if there is even a God, or what happens when we die ? People get freaked out not knowing those answers- so they force their version of what they consider " truth " down their religious members throats so they can THINK they know all the answers. LOL.
So I don't believe the WT leaders or even JW members would ever admit that a " theory " is possible - because they live and base their insecure lives on what they claim is definitive " truth ". But actually it's bullshit. So like you say not as many would sign on the dotted line as members if the WT started selling " theories ". It's the WT Society's way of keeping control and power over jW's saying that tHEY the GB have all the answers. " Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. " Take care guy, we'll have to catch up sometime ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

What is Your Brainwashing IQ ? Take the Quiz
by Finkelstein inso how much do you understand about brainwashing, its application and effects ?
essentially lures people into its grasps and then brainwashes them for exploitation and manipulative purposes by using mental indoctrination techniques.. here's a quick quiz to take to answer some of these questions.

MANINTHEMIDDLE- I agree with what you are saying regarding the test stating that " creative, open minded people are not skeptical " and are more readily sucked into a cult . I disagreed with that claim as well. I think creative open minded people are VERY skeptical about things. That's why they are creative, open minded people ! LOL. That is the one question on the test that I missed or they say that I missed. LOL. But I disagree with their views of creative people.
I think many times that rigid, opinionated, or non-creative people can be sucked into a cult much more because once they make a decision on something- there is no bending in their viewpoints, they aren't open minded enough to adapt and change their views. Just my little 2 cents on the subject, for what it's worth
