NewLightFlashLightStrobeLightBlackLightFleshlight!
by oompa ini may have posted this before, but could have been really drunk and don't remember.......i am soooooo sick of hearing about new light from the wt.
for lurkers and newbies here....have you ever found one single incident in the bible where god decided to reveal or teach false teachings first....and then.......reveal the truthful teaching later?
why the hell would god want to teach a falsehood, then later clean it up to make it "the real truth"....and yet that is what has been going on for the last 100 plus years?

I agree, and I'm disgusted.

Anyone here that DOES believe we are in the last days of this system?
by tula injust taking a roll call here.
no empire lasts forever.
no system of government will last forever.

Does anyone else believe that we are indeed headed to into another sinister control method of one world government?
Politicians know that religion is the opiate of the masses and readily exploit this societal glitch.

Birthdays are now a matter of conscience????
by sacrebleu ini just heard this.
i can't believe it.
does anyone know if this is true?.
-
Hermano
I guess birthdays are bad because the Bible talks about two people who died on birthdays. But what about the Lord's evening meal? The Bible mentions three people who died that day. They were tortured to death and one of them was the son of God! If birthdays are bad than that celebration must be really bad.
Nice counter-argument DT.

I like Worldtraveller's thought. Focus on making your guests comfortable. If they want to discuss religion, so be it, follow Freewilly's advise. Like Oompa and others have said, let the wine flow. Let us know how it turns out.
Not to sound like an activist, but I think this type of scenario is what can make the biggest impact against the WTS. It's friends talking freely which gets people to THINK and go back home and research. IMHO this is much more powerful than any concerted, organized apostate campaign will ever be.

Feb. 1 mass calling campaign. Will you call?
by Shawn10538 ini'm not sure if it was mentiopned.
but i think that we are talking about not just one call from each person, but we are talking about spending a good length of time calling repeatedly.
othrwise it just won't have much of an impact.

I like to focus my energy on trying to get my wife to think and really make an informed decision about this religion.
However, I wish your campaign the best.
It's great that we can all tackle this issue on different fronts and in different ways, and share the results. Let us know how it turns out.

Ideas to help w/ Still-believing mates
by FreeWilly ini've been reading alot of posts about spouses trying to get through to their mates still in dubville - with mixed results.
it seems to go like this: after some internal questioning the exiting mate shares what they learn with the stilladub mate.
at first the stilladub mate may be receptive and even share some of their own doubts and unresolved questions.

Good thread. Many good suggestions. My wife and I watched a program about the Waco incident, and I could tell it made her think a little bit, because the people inside the complex really beleived they had The Truth.

"This change shows how close the end we REALLY are..............."
by Warlock inaccording to one of my relatives, the co said, on a recent visit, that the offer of "everlasting life" will be brief and to the point.. when street witnessing, if people refuse, do not chase them.
in the door to door work, if someone is not interested, do not persist, just leave.. according to my relative, these changes really show "how close to the end we really are".. why is it that every change is interpreted as "this change shows how close to the end we really are"?.
i have come to realize that the wts are masters at jerking people around, and i really hate it!.

Maybe they don't want the R and F engaging people in long debates because the householder might bring up some information about JW scandals, or point out doctrinal inconsistencies.

Where do I find the numbers of the mass JW exodus cause of 1975?
by middleman inhey yall, i'm looking to see what book/books that show the rapid decline of jw membership, cause of the failed 75 prediction.
i've read from different internet sources it was around 800,000 from the mid 70's to 1980. is there a particular jw book i can find this in?
maybe i could compare the mid 70's yearbooks?

You got a lot of guts, dropping out one year before the big A. You could've missed out on Paradise.
