Remember back in the day, doing "street' witnessing? Approaching people with WT & Awake, or just standing there personally displaying the literature? It was awful. Most JWs did not like it. Especially, if you lived in a small to middle town size. Also, we went into small businesses to offer literature. They were always too busy, of course. Terrible! Few JWs can handle that kind of "public" exposure. Going door-to-door is so much easier now,,just a walk around the block, nobody home.

JWS moving into the 2010s: GREATER FOCUS ON "PUBLIC' VENUE PREACHING
by steve2 inincreasingly, jw.org and its print publications show lots of pictures of witnesses preaching one-to-one to "interested" passersby in public venues in contrast with fewer pictures depicting the door-to-door work.
sure, d-t-d is still the organizatrion's mainstay activity - but clearly it pushes at every opportunity the need for the rank and file to "go" public.. this push could be a two-edge sword: there is obviously a hard core of witnesses whose dispositions draw them to this type of social outreach: they almost rush out to do this public-venue work, prefering it to d-t-d. but i'd hazard a guess that for the bulk of those in local congregations, the public-venue witnessing would be a total turn off.. to date, in new zealand, i have seen no evidence of jws doing this public venue witnessing - despite the huge push on jw.org and in the publications.
kiwis just don't seem inclined to put themselves out in public places - or if they do, it is in a kind of very muted way (i.e., almost out of sight and unobtrusive).. this site has shown that in a few places, including mexico, at least a few of the more publicly zealous witnesses are doing the public work big time.. is the public venue preaching happening elsewhere, such as asia?

Is this new? a '21-page printout' for the whole week? For Cong. Book study, Bible reading for week (5 chapters or so), TMS, Service Meeting References (what? no 'Our Kingdom Ministry' anymore), and Watchtower Study, 'all-in-one printout?' I have been out for a long time, never seen this before.
Is this for everyone or just elders?

Nov 20, 2013 Letter to All Congregations (RE: Phillipines Disaster Relief)
by Gayle in"however, it would be appreciated if such donations are made without restrictions as to where and how the funds may be used.
" additionally, at this time, there is no need for donations of food, clothing, or other items.
if such needs arise in the future, you will be notified accordingly.

Disgusting how the GB want to control how members want to give from their heart for a cause. The GB clearly want the money without restrictions to how it should be spent by them. They state the money should be for the "worldwide work." (Afterall, the GB need a lot of money for their paradisaic NY upstate properties - forget about the Phillipines needing simple shelter right now. My goodness, the GB criticize the "brazen." How 'brazen' they themselves are!

Even among the WT 'heavenly' partakers, there's a lot of confusion in WT history as noted by poster "The Oracle": http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/136010/2/Memorial-Partaker-totals-for-72-years-by-request
In 1961, (those of us that were around then, were just kids, observing by far most partakers were already 'old' - 13,911) Likely, all would have died by now. Yet, since the WT has only stated that 'new' partakers are only 'replacement' partakers who have 'fallen' to apostasy, etc. Comical, that that is about the number of partakers this year!!! Did all the 1961 partakers get 'replaced?'

Good for you on your 're-evaluation!' Initially it can be bitter,, but with time it becomes bitter-sweet and then sweeter and sweeter with time. The pain of disappointment lightens. The 'aloneness' can feel so strong, but reading books of ones Ray Franz and Hassan on mind control tactics and there are so many other books of ones who have left, each with their own story, but there is a similarity of these.
So many best wishes to your growth and quest of real truth and freedom of your heart and mind.

Right, JWs don't know what to do with you when you're happy. They are totally confused, and frustrated if they can't get you down and depressed.

RESPONSE: Letting Go of the Need to Have Approval - MUST READ!
by gmason972 inthanks for the responses everybody!...nice to know i'm not alone in this.
the one thing that the watchtower society has taught me is to never place your value and worth in the hands of other people!....
once you look deep down inside yourself and let go of the need to have approval from others...you will find out things about you; you didn't know before.

That is so true!! As JWs, ones are suppose to worry so much about "stumbling" others. Since everything there is 'conditional love.' and judgmental, we subconsciously learned to put on the JW robe or should I say "straight jecket."
There was no allowance to be "true" to ourselves. "Love your neighbor, AS YOURSELF!" How many times did I read that? but somehow the WTS made it sound like to 'love your neighbor, but not yourself.'

WTS overboard w/suggested presentation
by doinmypart inthe nov 2013 km contains an article that is ridiculous in its level of minutae.. they focus on the word "because".
they tell jws to use the word "because" when explaining why they're at the homeowner's door.
writing department, you wrote an article on the use of the word "because"?
-

Publishers must not want to say why,,they know how unfruitful that is or they don't know 'why' any more

New Article on BEARDS and Attire of Jehovah's Witnesses
by jwfacts ini have had requests to add an article about beards and jehovah's witnesses.
it is interesting that there is virtually no statement that says a witness cannot have a beard, yet universally they do not have beards.
i have scoured quotes from all the threads on jwn, all references to beard on the cd watchtower library, and copies of elders letters that i have.

In the movie, "To Verdener" or "Worlds Apart." Produced in Denmark. An elder (actor) in movie had a beard. Of course, movie was not in English. Some who watched the objected that an elder would not have a beard, but some stated in Denmark they do. ?? Denmark speak Danish, German.
