No, but my wife is. One of those spiritually single parents who is successfully bringing up children without any help. Or at least no spiritual help. Let?s see, she doesn?t have to work so that means her time in the filed ministry can be increased and we live a little better than the rest of the congregation, so she can give a little more. So, she is a fine example.

How to Fake It As An Elder
by metatron inif you are an elder, there's lots of ways you can make life easier for yourself.
while still keeping your position.
old timers know these tricks but usually are too.

Act like you are better than every body else.
When asked for advice give common sense answers and act like they come from the bible
Tell other people how to raise their kids
Always report just enough time

Remember traveling to the conventions
by Strawberryfieldsforever ini remember years ago when my mom and i would travel great distances to the week long conventions.
we always had to travel with another sister whos husband was also "unbelieving".
anyway, her daughter and i would put the watchtower and awake mags in the back window to show everyone who we were.

I never had the enjoyment to attend an 8-day assembly (thank you Lord), the three day ones are bad enough. Why do I go through it every year, I think I am still in love with my wife! But, the feelings start to fail on day one of the same garbage every year.

How much do the elders lie when the Overseer visits the Cong?
by Agent Smith inthe other day when the overseer was over, he started talking about how good the cong was and how it was the best as far as publishers.
he mentioned that we only had 0 irregular, and 0 inactive publishers.
this is bs.

The big CO visit, what a crock. If this is not an organization made up of men, then why does everybody get giddy when a man shows up for a week? Meeting attendance is up. Everybody goes out in service, and time slots with the CO are given out like a lottery (Some people have even been happy that they won more than one slot in a visit). Elders show up at my door that barely even look at me during a meeting, to see if I have any problems. He gives special talks? Give me a break. They could not and are not any better than the talks that we usually have droned into our head, but we sure are glad that he gave us this great talk.
Once he is gone and the dust has settled, Elder Betterthanthow will go back to his dysfunctional family and not talk to the spiritually weak. Time will go unreported, and so on. Sure am glad that we are not run by a man?s organization

Watchtower study today at meeting
by dustyb inwell, looks like they do have a new date for the conclusion of the end, and that we should "be prepared".
even some people that commented said that 90 years of the 120 years have passed by and we should be prepared for the time at hand.
2034 people, 2034.... i've had enough, i'm talkign to the elder about this one, i don't care if i get labelled or not.

ditto, with this congregation. 2034 is the end, not mentioned from the platform, but people in the audience mentioned it.

What is the mood in the Kingdom Halls nowadays?
by JH inwhen i used to go the meetings in the late 80's, the mood was good, knowing that the end was close.
later on in the 90's while i still attended once in a while, people were starting to be less zealous and were starting to put their needs before those of the kingdoms.
people started to buy houses, instead of living in apartements, they were buying nicer cars, taking vacations far away, and mostly, the women started to work, to help pay for the better life style they were living.

there are a few different classes of people who go. there are the ones that go due to family members being in. they are the ones that are robotic, can't wait to leave. there are the new converts and the elderly that can't wait for the end to come. But, there is a class that just likes the fellowshipping, and this is a better place to meet that the pshyciatric ward.

The Society's Videos
by seeitallclearlynow inwhat does everybody think of the various videos produced by the society?
i have one in particular in mind that i could not stand even while i was still "in".
had a really "bad attitude" when i tried to watch it in preparation for one of the service meetings in that series when they were covering some of the videos.

Is the Wt bursting at the seams with$ billions?
by fearnotruth22 init is true that the society owns 10'0s of millions of $ to say the least in real estate, and monetary funds used to run the org.
but can anyone substantiate that the wt has billions of dollars in moneys such as cash in bank accounts, in stocks?.
if so, how does the wt justify having all of that wealth while most of humanity is in dire need?

there is not a lot of money at the local levels, unless you are in a rich neighborhood. I can go into a kingdom hall and look at the old carpeting paint that needs to be redone, shingles coming loose, etc etc. but every month there is a donation that goes to bethel so that they can do what they want. Like was said earlier, there are no programs for the poor and needy, not even for the old in the congregation.
