by sinis injust got my first tattoo - very large celtic cross across my whole forearm, and have also been smoking cigs, and cigars, on and off (social) - damn i feel great!!!
i was hoping that on the way back from the tat parlor a jw would spot me with a cig and a tated arm hanging out the window :) .
my jw wife isn't happy but i think she is turning ever so slowly - sort of "lukewarm".

Give me something to celebrate! (Tell me some good news)
by AlmostAtheist inhey all,.
there are a few "what damage did the watchtower do to you?
"-type threads floating about, and it's easy to get sort of down over it all.

ARE YOU STILL HAUNTED BY SELF-DOUBT POST-CULT?
by nvrgnbk indo you still find that you lack decisiveness and focus from time to time.
even though you are aware of your strengths and talents, are you sometimes paralyzed by the self-doubt that was taught to us in the watchtower cult?

sure. who doesn't from time to time. for sure I've come leaps and bounds, but every now and then I find myself feeling *small*
when that happens I step back and look at myself doing that and say "hmmm, that's interesting."
I love my life now. my self-esteem and confidence in my ideas are priority to me now.
I can't wait to see how much more awesome I feel as each year goes by being out of the borg....
for the lurkers out there.....it REALLY does get better!! -

So I don't know where to start, so here is my story........
by hazeleyes ini've been searching around at all the posts her just reading and trying to figure things out for myself, i just don't know what to do anymore, so i guessed that i'd tell you all my story and hopefully get some kinda answers.
so here goes...... born a jw, have been one all my life, baptized at 13 and was the good little girl in the cong.
when all my friends were up to badness.

welcome to the forum hazeleyes.
you have a lot of challenges ahead of you but I'm a firm believer that we are all capable of tremendous changes with the right amount of planning. you have some excellent advice and suggestions here. I can relate to your story so much. Being raised a JW female you followed your *role* perfectly. so did I. Then one day I woke up and said this is bullshit and I'm not going to live like a whipped puppy anymore! I'm worth so much more than that!
I also had PPD after my first child. if you want to talk PM me.
try to follow up on any assistance you can recieve from the government. just a thought, but I know in the US you'd be entitled to more help if you didn't live with a free-loading mate that didn't contribute to the household funds.
perhaps you can nanny for some other friends kids so that you can be at home and make money? your children will be old enough soon for you to go back to school or take on work outside the home.
I think you know what you need to do already as regards your husband. it's terrifying to face those realizations, but good for you for being honest with yourself when no one else in your life is honest with you! standing up for yourself will make you soar!
we're here for support and to listen. the elders are not marriage counselors or psychiatrist. reading your bible more, going to meeting, or out in service WILL NOT help anything...

One Year.
by RichieRich inapril 14th of last year, i had to tell my mother that i was an apostate and had spent the last year working against the very organization that she had spent her life supporting.. april 14th of this year, i woke up next to my lovely girlfriend, went to the gym, came home, cooked a hearty brunch, then went to my little corner of the world- my piercing shop, where i got to talk to and interact with people who respected me for who i was and what i did.
i did manage to sneak a way a little early, and come home to once again wrap my arms around one of the coolest young women i've ever known.. they say the best revenge is living well.
and i say revenge "is sweet, but not fattening.".

wow Richie - can't believe it's been a year already - and we still haven't gotten together!!
life is so freaking great now a days.....
the kids got up last saturday and one of them was complaining about softball practice and we said "well you could be getting up and spending the morning going out in service!" they started laughing and the oldest said "that would be horrible!!" LOL!
life is good for all of us these days.
glad your Sundays are so much more enjoyable for you - as well as the rest of the days of the week. :) -

My daughter has an assembly part....
by megsmomma inshe just told me last night that she has a part.
it is with her dad.
she will be talking about a music teacher "making fun" of her for not participating in singing holiday songs.
-
freedomloverr
I think you handled that perfect!
there was *some* benefit to learning to speak in public. she will feel like she has a listening, unprejudiced ear with you. that will keep communication open for the bigger issues as they come up.
well done momma! -
