yep....'tis true....she's more entertaining, better looking, and apparently provides hours of ''fun activities''.

sometimes they get together with her one of her friends and play well into the night.... her name?.

.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. xbox 360 and her friend gears of war.. lol...he got the gow game yesterday and stayed up till past midnight playing.

hey all, i'm new to the board, and happy to have found it.

i'm going to college for the first time (i'm 25 yrs old).

does anyone have any advice on how to handle the challenge?

You will learn far, far more from being in college than what is outlined in the course syllabuses. It's a danged fine thing. Sure, there will be some tight spots, but you'll love it.

a question for any who may wish to comment.

what would be the response if i asked a jw to open our "discussion" in prayer to jehovah for our eyes to be open to the truth of what we are about to study?

Regarding your question, I think they would just find it odd that anyone would suggest what they might pray about. It would probably be one of those "went over like a lead zeppelin" moments, but it's a great thought. Certainly you can be saying your own prayer that they might see the light... I certainly do.

Is there a bird watcher in the house?

this evening i went for a walk near the mouth of the bega river, several kilometres from my place.

i enjoyed the peace and took a few photos.. for several years the pelicans here were my concern (keeping an eye on them and occationally capturing them to remove fish hooks and the like.

while there a duck billed mud stinky arrived.

The Tribal Nature of Jehovah's Witnesses

it seems to me a common misconception amongst ex- jehovahs witnesses is that there will one day be an issue arises so big that it will pull the rug from under the watchtower bible and tract society bringing the whole edifice crumbling down.

revelations come and go, apostates jump from one hope to another.

expose after expose fail to cause more than a ripple on the tranquil jw pond.

I think you're spot-on. I have seen the Witnesses as something very Shirley Jackson-esque for some time now (have you ever read her short story "the Lottery"? A creepy as hell believable classic). Unnerving thing is, I realized the correlation while I was still part of it.

While I would LOVE to believe the tower will fall, I don't foresee that happening. My niece (by marriage) who didn't even KNOW any JW's growing up, and who KNOWS how I and other outed JW family members feel about it all, still felt compelled to study and deprive her children of holidays, etc. I mean, they're still getting RECRUITS, here! Her situation is that she feels she was raised with no structure and very few morals so she wants to give her children something she didn't have. OH by the grace of the gods, give me strength on this one.

The JW's certainly won't quietly die out, like the last of the Shakers. They keep reproducing and baptizing children before they're old enough to have any legal say in the matter. They HAVE, however, lost a lot of momentum, and lost a lot of POTENTIAL converts, by the wonder of the internet. Thank HEAVENS for that. They will dwindle down to a skeleton crew, perhaps even splintering yet again into another sub-set before it's over (a group who teaches the same TEEruth except for the transfusion bit, for example.)

Yes, a tribe. And I am looking forward to the thread on the Ex-Dub Tribe, too. *grin*
