  Jehovah's Witnesses don't use Socratic Method

  i just learned about socratic method from my daughter.

  she was working on a report for one of her classes.

  she was reading the report to me to get my view point.

  what is munchausen by proxy syndrome?.

  one of the most harmful forms of child abuse, munchausen by proxy syndrome was named after baron von munchausen, an eighteenth-century german dignitary known for telling outlandish stories.

  a parent will induce illness or injury in their own child and then take the victim in to the hospital to be seen as the heroic savior.. typically, the perpetrator feels satisfied when he or she has the attention and sympathy of doctors, nurses, and others who come into contact with him or her and the child.. because the parent or caregiver appears to be so caring and attentive, often no one suspects any wrongdoing.. .

  Pics of tornado damage by our house that hit FRI night

  three of my kids live within two miles of where this tornado hit friday night.. it was a pretty frightful night.

  my daughters apt was three inches from getting flooded.

  we moved what we could to upstairs and on shelves.. stayed in half bath with grandbaby with pillows and blankets over the baby.. my son has been working at this site where it hit to help out.. these pics were taken today (sunday) can't imagine what it looked like yesterday, they said there were over 300 (worldly) .

  On your way "out" of the WT, did you experience physical syptoms?

  all of the sudden she wants to spend all this time with me.

  of course, lots of what she was telling me about the "bible", didn't make sense.

  I experienced terrible panic attacks while still active in the Organization.

  Realizing the truth about the (T)ruth has its unease, believe me, but nothing compares with the dread of demons and the deadly onslaught of Armegeddon. Life and health is much, much better now.

  My awakening and realization that I have been told a lie

  hi all, new posting, but i've been lurking for a while.

  i thought it was time to "come out" as it were and voice my story.... i was born into the jw cult surrounded by all of my jw family.

  grandfather was an elder for almost 40 years till he passed, both of my uncles are currently now elders and have been for the last 15 years.

  as a grandparent i feel the need to share this picture with you.. if any of you have cute pictures of grand babies please post them if your comfortable with it.. this little guy is elias, he was born january 4th in spokane.

  this picture was taken by his mother when elias was 8 weeks old.. he is my second grand baby, my 3rd one is "in the oven", they are all boys.. every time i look at this picture it makes me smile how about you ?.

  The June 15th-2010 WT indirectly admits that most Ex-JW's are happy!

  take a look at page nine of the new june 15th wt.

  at first glance, it appears to be a standard wt article extolling the safety and happiness of jw's in the kh.. "many who today are members of the christian congregation can tell you that before learning of and adopting jehovah's righteous standards, they lived without moral restrain.

  yet, they were unsatisfied and unhappy.

  Why didn't the Watchtower use the word, most, instead of some?

  Wow... great catch, Moshe, and yes, most interesting! We are well familiar with how loaded the Watchtower language is... it is very interesting indeed that they did not feel empowered enough to say "most". Those at Bethel have noticed the numbers of the mass exodus, even if the rank & file still believe the congregations are growing.

  How did 1975 effect your family? here's mine...

  i just spent a few days with my dad.

  i asked a few questions about the time when mum became a witness which i know is still, 38 years later, a painful thing for him to talk about.

  in the course of it, he also learned some stuff that he did not know about the pressures of the times.. as i expected, mum and dad have different versions of this time, and it is pretty hard to find the real truth in it and in some ways it does not matter anymore.. mums version: she first was contacted in echuca late 1960s and dad put a stop to it.

  Wow, Aussie... astounding (and rather heart-breaking) story. As are so many here!

  I don't really think 1975 affected our family directly... unless I, too, am in denial! I did have horrible nightmares and panic attacks (not to mention constant dread) of Armegeddon.

  I remember it... oh, yes! I remember it! My best friend (whose parents were both Pioneers) moved away, as they were moving where "the need was great". Why? Because their mantra was "Stay Alive 'til '75!" Meaning they would walk right into the New Earth.

  Oh, yes. I heard it... I read it... I remember.

  i have to give credit for this thread where credit is due- to the poster black sheep who used this expression in an answer on another thread recently.

  " black sheep.. perhaps the leaders of the wt society are not victims - they are the ones handing out the mind control to the rank & file - ( i know some differ as to whether the leaders are victims as well ) - however that is not the purpose of debate on this thread.. the rank and file jehovah's witness members are trained to have relationships based on " conditions of obedience and membership ".

  notice this quote from steve hassan's " releasing the bonds - empowering people to think for themselves " on the last paragraph of his introduction .

  Beautifully said, Dearest Flipper. A very dear friend of mine (a chosen Mother, Sister, Teacher, Friend) once said to me, "Just be there for [them]. Someday [they] will need you."

  I think she's right. I will be here waiting patiently, and when my loved ones need me, I will be as strong and wise and loving as I can be.
