Never say never
by zed is dead ini really thought that i would never go to another memorial service at a kingdom hall ever again.
i found out today that a man that i truly respected as a man passed away recently.
his daughter call me to let me know.. even though i haven't spoke to them in years, i still consider them family.

The final chapter in the confusedandalone story...
by confusedandalone inthis morning i get a frantic call from my sister (who has been baptized 1 year and one month and never attends meetings anymore).
in tears she tells me that this morning my father picked her up in the car and told her that i was am apostate.
that i no longer loved jehovah and that i was going to be disfellowshipped.

Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life. You have what really matters in life, your family. This religion is crap.
There will be ups and down with family and employees...but just keep looking forward...because that is where you are going.

Effect of family life (me, wife and young boy) if I am df / da and wife zealous jw
by Daniel1555 ini have a question and hope to hear some experiences of you who went or are going through this situation:.
actually for several reasons (blood policy, disfellowshipping policy and some more) my conscience is telling me quite strongly, that i should not anymore be a part of that organization.. my wife and even elders know about my doubts (except blood policy).
however i continue to join the meetings actually just to please my wife and to be together with our baby boy.

Really good advice here. My .02, be the best darn dad and husband in the world as you extract yourself from the organization. Spend quality time with wife and baby boy.

Former Elders? What did you not like about serving as an elder?
by JakeM2012 ina few of my pet peeves were:.
the po/cobe knowing that he needed to have an elders meeting after the meeting but not telling any other elders.
humm, but his wife knew.

Was Your Leaving The Witnesses A Very Gradual Process Or A Quick One?
by minimus infor me, it took many years.. even when i would read all the changes over the years from the "truth", i still would ignore it and "wait on jehovah" and try to be a positive force in the congregation.. eventually, i just couldn't take it anymore and resigned as an elder, and slowly but surely made my fade.. what about you?
were you out, in a short or longer time?
?.

I wanted to add, even though I didn't leave until 2001, the 1995 thing was HUGE to me. I started actually paying attention to crap. I started using a NJB instead of the NWT, brought it to all the meetings and started reading all the scriptures in context. I started questioning the elder friends about inconsistencies. I sat next to the BS conductor with my big NJB rolling my eyes during my last Daniel book study.
But I would have defended to death it was still the truth. Until I snapped one day and I was done.

(waves to shop )
Quick. I had sort of a an "out of body" moment of clarity during a Sunday WT study, and suddenly felt like I didn't belong there. My whole life flashed in my brain and what the consequences probably would be, almost like the split seconds you hear about before death. It was my last meeting. I didn't know what I was going to do; it was not planned. I was just done. And it felt absolutely like the right thing to do. I was so sure, I have never questioned it. I had no influence from the internet or anything. I read up on that stuff after I left.
As I think back on it, it was really strange how it all happened. But I am sooo glad I ripped the bandaid. It probably would have taken me years if I had thought it through and weighed it all out. Phew.

Please Share one of your Favourite Quotations
by cofty inhave you ever come across words that resonate with you?
it doesn't have to be a great gem of wisdom, just something that is meaningful to you.. please share, and if you want to, tell us why it's meaningful to you.. here is something that made me nod when i first read it.... .
"fortunate are those who have learned to see, in the wild things of nature, something to be loved, something to be wondered at, something to be reverenced, for they have found the key to a never-failing source of recreation and refreshment".

See that any time you feel pained or defeated, it is only because you insist on clinging to what doesn't work. Dare to let go and you won't lose a thing except for a punishing idea. ~ Guy Finley
Each indecision brings its own delays and days are lost lamenting over the lost days… What you can do or think you can do, begin it. For boldness has magic, power and genius in it. ~ Goethe (on my desk in front of my face every day.)
I learned that it is the weak who are cruel, and that gentleness is to be expected only from the strong. ~ Leo Rosten
I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do. ~ Helen Keller

How Many JWs Are Confident They Are Worthy?
by Ding inwhich jws do you think actually feel confident that they would survive armageddon if it came tomorrow?

Good question. I never was worried about destruction or judgement. But my VERY faithful mother, pillar and all, would say from time to time..."I hope I make it." Seriously? Very Catholic.
It is the message they send loud and clear...you are undeserving, undesirable and unworthy.

New Arrangement: All Can Listen In to Bethel Annual Meeting
by Red Piller ina letter read at our meeting.. .
our congregation is assigned a location (a nearby congregation) to listen (video, also?
) to the annual meeting.

Oh great...another meeting.
I wonder if they will see this a some great priviledge, or no big deal since the annual meeting notes went out over the internet before the final prayer.
