some weeks ago, my family and i were invited to a jw party.
i have been inactive for some years now, my wife attends the meetings now and then.
now, our cbs-conductor (now: overseer, i am up to date, thanks to jwd :-)) had built a new house and invited the whole congregation for a party.
I try to steer away from biblical doctrine when talking to JW's. I go for the jugular and bring up the UN thing. When they criticize the internet I ask them why the Watchtower Society has a web site if it's a tool of Satan?

we have a brand new audio mp3 on our site.
it's by fran sankey and it's called, "witnessing to jehovah's witnesses".
fran shares some practical witnessing tips, discusses the watchtower mindset and reveals reasons why jehovah's witnesses are so difficult to penetrate with the gospel.
Here is my two cents worth on getting through to JW's.
When I talk to JW's I rarely bring up doctrine for 2 reasons.
1. They believe what the Watchtower says over what the bible says. If the bible contradicts the Watchtower teachings, they believe the Watchtower. So showing them biblical doctrine, IMO, is not the most practical way to get through to them.
2. I found that most JW's are not that versed in the bible. They are taught and well versed in scriptures the Watchtower wants them to know and believe the twisted translation in the NWT. They do not research the bible or scripture that is not in Watchtower publications.
I find the best way to make them think is to have them question the Watchtower Society themselves. They must break their trust in the organization first.

there were several different careers that the wts did not aprove of.
such as a being a cop, for having a gun.
couldn't be a martial arts instructor.. maybe it was a well paying career.. did you have a job that was not approved of?
I doubt we'll find a Politician who is a baptised JW.
yesterday november 3rd my husband and i had a visit from three elders( grand jury) as we had given them proof of the affliation of the wtbts to the un.they wanted us to recant and say the society was telling the truth (same old thing only for libary pass not ngo) and to say that the un were liars(all 30,000 who work there, apparently jw's also work there).
when we refused to compromise our integrity after 21/2 hours they departed saying they would let us know their decision!!.
we were obviously wrong when we thought only jehovah was the judge, so there you go, we were wrong again!
They wanted you to say the UN was lying?????
Jehovah's Witnesses are always looking for proof when something negative comes out about them. You showed them the proof the Watchtower was affiliated with the United Nations.
Now I would ask them what proof they have that the UN is lying?

when we were all in the errmmm..eh hem....cough cough..."truth".how did you react to people who said negitive things about the organization and when they called it a cult?
i recall one time,this young man tried to gentally aprouch me,he put his hand on my shoulder and he started to say,its a cult...and i remember my whole body tensed up and i practically went into a seizure to his touch.i just remember he took his hand away from me and stepped back very slowly.he stayed away from me the rest of the nite.lol,poor guy he must have tought i was a complete nutt.. i'm just glad i can laugh about it now,of course i wish i listened to him.. even the other day,i was talking to my mother and she was saying how upset i used to get with her....
The problem is most non-JW's don't know how to approach JW's. By making negative comments about the religion, only makes them defensive and reinforces what the WT teaches which could draw them further in. The best approach would be to make the JW think and come to their own conclusion that the Watchtower is not the truth.

i realize that not everyone here is from the states but those who are:.
a) are you going to celibrate and/or party!.
b) what are you going to wear???.
Maybe a Jehovah's Witness.... Nah, that's tooooo scary!

i was just thinking about a discussion i had a few years ago when i was still an active jw... .
i asked a pioneer sister why so many people accused jws of brainwashing.
she happily responded, "well, they accuse us of brainwashing because that is what we do.
Ya know, I bet she really believes that too.

last year we had 8730 memorial partakers, how many do you think we'll have now?
will a noticeable decline be a cause for excitement among the masses?
I question the truthfulness of any statistics the Watchtower puts out.
